She did concede that this is a better <br />run establishment than the previous one. Mr. Kelly maintained that this <br />debris was left from the previous tenants and believed that the owner has <br />had it removed. In the course of the discussion, Mr. Kelly stated that <br />there was a drive to the house which their security officer blocked with <br />his truck so that no one parks on the drive, and he moved the truck at the <br />resident's request, Mr. Thomas asked that Mr. Conway check into this sit- <br />uation when he checks the parking. The members assured Mr. Kelly that <br />they were pleased to see the proposed changes to the building, but the <br />other situations do need to be looked into. R. Bierman moved to forward <br />this proposal to the Architectural Board of Review, to request that the <br />Building Department check into:-.their park.ing; to request that upon their <br />return they have addresse.d the question of removing the pole in front and <br />perhaps installing some planting in that area; and to forward this proposal <br />to the Safety and Engineering Departments, seconded by B. Gorris, and <br />unanimously approved. Mr. Thomas requested that a copy of this motion be <br />forwarded to the owner of the property, Mr. Murton, and that he be invited <br />to attend the next meeting. <br />2) Jamestown Apartment Complex, 4809 Columbia Road <br />Proposal to construct small addition to recreation building. <br />Mr. Mazgolius, owner, explained that he will be constructing a 1,000 <br />square foot additian to the clubhouse. This building was originally de- <br />signed with one wood wall so that it could be expanded. The additiori wi11..... .-- <br />match the existing materials. He presented pictures of the clubhouse and,° <br />surrounding areas. Building Commissioner Conway advised that the parking <br />requirements will not be effected because this facility is for their resi- <br />dents only. Mr. Margolius further advised that the air conditioning units <br />would be concealed as are the existing ones and tha-, no'additicnal lighting <br />would be installedo The members agreed that there was no need to forward <br />this to the Architectural Board since this building is in the middle of <br />their own complex and will be exactly the same as the original structure. <br />B. Gorris moved to approve the proposal to cons.truct an addition to the .. <br />recreation building for the Jamestown Apartment Complex, 4809 Columbia <br />Road as presented tonight, seconded by M. Betts, and unanimously approved. <br />3) May Company, Great Northern Mall <br />Proposal to construct addition and exterior renovation to building. <br />Mr. Evans, representing May Company, explained that there will be two <br />additions: one approximately 4,000 square feet will be filling in the <br />existing colonade on the lower level on the north side and the second one, <br />on the south side, will be 23,000 square feet (a one story sheet metal <br />addition will be removed). In both cases some parking will be removed and <br />the ring road and landscaping will be relocated. On the south side the <br />existing signage will be relocated to the addition. It was pointed out. - <br />that the parking shown on the site plan was the proposed parking plan, not <br />what was existing. Building Commissioner Conway advised that the owner <br />of the mall had just received a variance for angle parking and will be <br />obtaining the permit for the lot this month. Mr. Gorris suggested that <br />they should install a sidewalk from the lower level to the up.per level and <br />Mr. Morgan suggested that a.proposed landscape plan should be submitted to <br />the Architectural Board.
