Mr. Barnett, the owner, stated_that if Lorain Road is congested an attendant
will direct drivers to Dover Center Road and 18 or 19 cars can be stacked on the
property the way it is. Any east bound traffic would have to go down Dover
Center Road to Sparky Lane and back to Lorain Roada Building Commissioner Conway
asked if the arrows shown on the plan woul.d be actually on the drive. Mr.
Ulissee explained the existing brick will' be covered with stucco (Dri-vit #St
Van Dyck, a cream color); a truss roof Taill be added and there will be a 10 inch
band in a smoky blue on a 4 foot white soffit and a 10 inch band on a Dri-vit
fascia; 4 brick columns (Belden Frontier B1end brick) will be added with mortar
tinted to ma.tch the brick; and the roof will be a Hearthstead Horizon blue
(brochure presented was similar, but not exact color). Four 1,000 watt high
pressure sodiiun lights will be installed on the 18 foot high C.E.I. poles on the
north and east side of the property; three 300 Watt lights on 12 foot poles will
be installed on the Dover Genter drive and will be shielded. All surrounding
property is commercial, the one adjacent house is used as an office. The pa.ving
and curbs will be concrete. The fence and trash enclosure will be a 6 foot cedar
board on board type fence. Mr. Sohn woiald ha.ve preferred to see all the material
samples. It was explained that the standing seam roof will be painted to match
the horizon blue shingles, and the standing seam cupola will be the color of the
bands; the doors will be painted to match the Dryvit. No air conditioning units
are planned, and Nir. Gallagher cautioned if they did add a tmit it must have a
ground mounted condenser, screened with shrubs. Regarding the revised landscape
plan, Mr. Zergott suggested adding some evergreen material in the east triangle,
perhaps andorra junipers, where it shows only one burning bush. Mr. Ulissee
stated that there should have been 3 burning bushes. Mr. Zergott would still
like the junipers for an evergreen ma.terial. T. Gallagher moved to approve the
Velvet Touch Auto Wash as presented, with the condition that the lights do not
exceed the boundaries of the premises; the right hand turn signage be installed;
that the andorra juniper be added as stated above; the colors be approved as
they are shown; and if any air conditioner is installed it will be on the ground
and screened with shrubs and. no window imit is to be installed, seconded Y.
Sohn, and unanimously approved.
2) Barlo Plaza, 30572 Lorain Road.
Proposal to construct storage building in rear of plazae
Originally proposed with plans to construct an addition on April 10, 1990 and
withdrawn on June 8, 1990. Referred by Planning Comnission April 14, 1992.
Mr. Aiccarri, architect, and Mr. Hayden, owner presented plans. Mr. Acciarri
explained that the material would ma,tch -the existing garage with T-111 siding
(walnut stained) and Fiberglass shingles, the pine trees in the buffer will be
staggered 10 foot on center and will be installed on the top of the slope (plan
shows them on the slope). Mr. Zergott stated that.the first row could be 10 feet
from the building and the second row should be 15 feet from the building, and
pines should either white or Austrian and about 6 foot high. Mr. Acciarri
explained that there is also a row of elm trees adjacent to the Harrington
property.. No access is planned around the rear.of the building and no lights are
to be installed. Mr. Sohn stipulated that everythi.ng was to match the existing
maintenance building.-The plans were explained to Mrs. Wiersma, a neighbor. Mr.
Zergott asked if she would like a security light in the back. She did not want
additional lighting. T. Gallagher moved to approve the Barlo Plaza proposal as
submitted with the recommendations that the 6 foot white or Austrian pine trees
be planted 10 foot on center (staggered) with the first row 10 feet from the
building and the second row 15 feet, seconded by Y. Sohn, and unanimously
approved.
2
