Mr. Conway verified that they would need a 12 <br />foot variance for total sign area, but no variance would be needed for a second sign <br />since this is on a?canopy, and there would be 20 square feet available for the <br />second imit. The members agreed that they could vote on the 12 foot variance for the <br />canopy sign. The agenda stated that they would present a landscape plan, but Mr. <br />Giesser explained that it was only for the existing frontage, not for a larger area. <br />R. Gomersall moved to grant a 12 square foot variance for a canopy sign to B. B. & <br />C. Realty (affordable Cars and Finance), 27724 Lorain Road, seconded by B. Grace, <br />and unanimously approved. Variance granted. Mr. Geisser advised that the correct <br />address for this unit was 27726 Lorain Road. Mr. Gareau asked if the withdrawal of <br />the other variance had been in the motion. R. Gomersall moved to amend the motion to <br />include that the remainder of the request has been continued tmtil the Ma.y meeting <br />and that the correct address is 27726 Lorain Road, seconded by B. Grace, and <br />unanimously approved. R. Gomersall moved to approve the motion as amended, seconded <br />by B. Grace, and unanimously approved. The oath was <br />administered to Dr. Strom, owner, J. Briola, sign contractor, M. Brown, owner of the <br />shopping center, and C. Hixson, sign contractor for Mr< Brown. Mr. Briola explained <br />that they will put tire stops around the sign which will be located in the parking <br />lot. Member questioned if Mr. Brown had any other suggestions. AZr. Hixson presented <br />a rendering of a revised development sign indicating "Olmsted Plaza" and including <br />Affordable Chiropractic along with a space for a second tenant Ndio has no pole sign. <br />The sign would have to be turned lengthways to include both names. The members <br />preferred this alternative instead of another separate pole sign. In response to <br />Building Commission Conway's question; Mr. Hixson explained that the height to the <br />bottom of this sign is 10 feet and 14 feet to the top. Buildi.ng Commissioner Conway <br />advised that a 10 foot location variance would be required. Law Director Gareau also <br />pointed out that the variance would ha.ve to be granted to the owner, not to <br />Affordable Chiropractic. B. Grace moved-to grant to Marjak Development Company , <br />Post Office Box 18516, Cleveland Ohio 44118, a 10 foot location variance for the <br />Olmsted Plaza pole sign which will include two spaces for tenants to be listed, <br />seconded by R. They explained that Conrad's was no longer a Goodyear store so they are <br />changing all the signage and removing the Goodyeax logo; 221 square footager of <br />signage will be removed and 145 square feet will be re-installed.
