Mr. Gomersall suggested that they
could have a nice mornnnent. sign with a bulletin board at this location. Mr.
Barber explained that they would like to set a precedent and build a better
mornnnent sign that could be used at their other stations. The members agreed that
they would probably need a variance for the location, but could check with the
Building Department. The applicants w-i.thdrew the request at this time. Request variance to install prohibited pole
sign. Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section 1163.22(a).
Chairman Gomersall called all interested parties before the Board. The oath was
administered to Mr. Montgomery, representing Tijuana Taxi, and Mr. Wakelie, sign
contractor. It was clarified this would not actually be a pole sign. The sign was
to be wall mounted on a screen wall, but the poles were needed to help support
the sign on the wall. The members agreed this was not actually a pole sign since
it was only a one sided sign. Mr. Sanker did not lmow who decided this was a pole
sign. The members were not sure they even needed a variance, but they agreed to
grant a variance to save any more confusion. B. Grace moved to grant the request
for Tijuana Taxi, 25973 Great Northem Plaza North, a variance to install a
prohibited pole sign, seconded by S. Ferencik, and unanimously approved. Variance
granted.
