<br />Vice Chairman Maloney called a11 interested parties before the board. The oath <br />was administered to Mr. Hixon, sign contractor, who explained that since this <br />business is in the back of the building on the second floor, they need a sign to <br />direct patients to the rear entrance. This is a non-illuminated sign fastened to <br />the building. The members had no problem za-ith the proposal. T. Koberna moved to <br />grant a request for the North Coast Foot and Ankle Specialists, 23823 Lorain <br />Road, for a variance to have a wall sign on the second floor of a commercial <br />building, seconded by W. Purper moved to grant the request of <br />All Ameriean Sports, 26721 Brookpark Road Ext. for a 7.25 square foot variance <br />for total sign area allowed for a business unit and a variance to have a second <br />wall sign, seconded by B. Grace, and tmanimously approved. Variances granted. <br />10. Taco Bell, 24247 Lorain Road. <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request variance to add a prohibited changeable <br />copy sign to a prohibited pole sign and as well as a variance to .keep the pole <br />sign. Also request 79.5 square foot variance for total sign area allowed for a <br />business use. Also request variance to have 3 temporary signs: a 1 foot 2 inch by <br />30 foot roof banner; a 2 foot by 4 foot pole sign banner; and a 2 foot by 4 foot <br />"A" frame ground sign. The oath <br />was administered to Ms. Nguyen, representing Taco Bell, and Mr. Jacobsen, sibn <br />contractor, who explained that they were withdrawing the request for the <br />temporary "A" frame ground sign and they were requesting the 2 other temporary <br />signs for 30 days during their Rocky and Sulwinkle promotion. They need the <br />changeable copy sign to advertise their specialso Mr. Koberna questioned the need <br />for a changeable copy sign since they advertise their specials with window signs <br />and pointed out that signs are visible because this building was quite close to <br />Lorain Road. Ms. Nguyen responded that those signs come from the main office, but <br />there are specials they do not get signs for. Mr. Grace agreed and suggested that <br />they could have zaindow signs r.?ade up locally. The members ha.d no problem with the <br />temporary signs for 30 days, and they decided to vote on the issues separately. <br />B. Grace moved to grant a variance for Taco Bell, 24247 Lorain Road, to add a <br />prohibited changeable copy sign to a prohibited pole sign, seconded by J. <br />Maloney. Roll call on motion: Grace, Maloney, Koberna, and Purper, no. Motion <br />failed to pass. Variance denied. B. Grace moved to grant a variance to Taco Bell, <br />24247 Lorain Road, to have 2 temporary signs: a 1 foot, 2 inch by 30 foot roof <br />banner, and a 2 foot by 4 foot pole sign banner for a 30 day period, seconded by <br />T. Koberna, and tmanimously approved. Variance granteda <br />11. Persinger Sunoco Station, 24584 Lorain Road. <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request 18 inch variance for encroachment into <br />the 15 foot setback on two corners of a proposed canopy to be constructed over <br />pumps islands. Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section 1139.08.
