i
Chairman Gomersall called all interested parties before the board. The oath was
administered to Mr. Stemmer who advised that after he requested the permit in
March, he thought it was approved so he started the construction, later he was
told that it was not approved because it looked like a shed. Building
Commissioner Conway advised that originally this was submitted to Planning
Conmission; and the Architectural Review Board as a minor change, they refused it
because they were concerned that, it would look like a shed. At that time Mr.
Stemmer was informed that he would have to go to Planning Commission with his
plans. He then completed the addition prior to being heard by the Cormaission. Mr.
Stemmer stated that in 1990 he received approval for a 14 by ZO foot addition, so
he did not believe that there would be a problem with this one which is 4 by 10
foot. He needs this space for a desk for a computer and a fax machineo The
members did not believe this looked like a shed. W. Purper moved to grant the
request of Thomas Stemmer, 29930 Lorain Road for a 20 foot setback variance for
an addition and a special permit to add to a non-conforming building, seconded by
J. Maloney, and unanimously approved. Variance and special permit granted.
11. Your Typewriter and Com uter Company, 29975 Lorain Road.
Request for variance (1123.12). Request variance to have a temporary ground sign
for a 6 to 9 month period which will be replaced with permanent ground sign when
occupancy certifieate is issued. Also request 7 foot side line setback variance
and variance for location in 35 foot prohibited triangular area. Violations of
Ord, 90-125, Section 1163.12(g) and 1163.12(b).
Chairman Gomersall called all interested parties before the board. The oath was
administered to Mr.. Fletcher, representing the owner. Ghairman Gomersall advised
that a letter had been received from Mr. Kazor, an adjacent business owner
objecting to the sign. Mr. Gomersall clarified that they were requesting a
temporary sign for a 4 to 6 month period. Mr. Fletcher explained that because of
the location of the building and because it looks like a house they need a sign
which will be perpend.icular to the street. The blank sign which is on this
property does not belong to the lessee who just leases the front. Building
Commissioner Conway requested that a condition of this variance be that the blank
sign must be removed. It was determined that it would be impossible to put this
sign outside of the 35 foot prohibited triangular area. The members read Mr.
Kazor's letter individually. J. Maloney moved to grant Your Typewriter and
Computer Company, 29975 Lorain Road, the request for a variance to have a
temporary ground sign for a 6 to 9 month period which will be replaced with a
permanent ground sign when occupancy certificate is issueda Also request 7 foot
side line setback variance and variance for location in 35 foot prohibited
triangular area, with the condition that the new sign will not be erected until
the previous sign is removed from the property, seconded by W. Purper, and
unanimously approved. Variances granted.
12. Cleveland Electric Illuminating Co., 3900 Brendan Lane.
Request for variance (1123.12). Request 50 foot variance for width of parcel "A"
in order to split property into two parcels. Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section
1139.06. Referred by Planning Commission on May 11, 1993.
Chairman Gomersall called all inteLested parties before the board. The oath was
administered to N'ir. Beurskin, representing C.E.I. Chairman Gomersall acl.vised
that Planning Commission had discussed this at length and wanted some conditions
on any approval. Mro Buerskin explained the plat and stated that parcel "B" was
to be retained and parcel "A" was to be sold to United Survey. The members
studied the plat, and Mr. Gomersall read the Planning Commission's recommendation
to approve it subject to the acceptance of both United Survey and the
6
