Mr. Conway explained tha.t this landscape strip is <br />existing, but since the lot is being expanded a varianee would now be required. <br />J. Ma.loney moved to grant to Metro Lexus/Infinity, 28450 Lorain Road, the request <br />for a 55 foot variance to display cars in front set back and 5 foot variance for <br />west .property line landscape buffer with the stipulation that there oniy be one <br />vehicle on each of the 8 pods and that the parking in front of the building be <br />maintained for customer parking, seconded by R. Gomersall, and unanimously <br />approved. Variances granted. <br />8. Walter D. Hall, 6409 McKenzie Road. <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request 600 square foot variance to construct <br />second garage. Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section 1135.02(c)(3). <br />Chairman Gomersall called all interested parties before the board. The oath was <br />administered to Mr. Hall who explained that the existi.ng garage only would hold <br />one car and they have 3 cars. Mr. Gomersall noted that this lot is so deep he can <br />keep horses. The members have no objection. W. Purper moved to grant the request <br />for Walter D. Hall, 6409 McKenzie Road, for a 600 square foot variance to <br />construct second garage, seconded by T. Koberna,. and unanimously approved. <br />Variances granted. <br />9. Ilvid M. Zaccardelli, 4419 Clague Road. <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request 461 square foot variance to eonstruct <br />detached garage (attached garage existing). Violation of Ord. 1135.02(c)(3). <br />Variance previously granted 3/2/88 has expired. <br />Chairman Gomersall advised that this request has been withdrawn until next <br />month. <br />10. Sprernulli Marathon, 28700 Lorain Road. <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request variance to install 2 prohibited signs <br />on canopy. Also request 114 square foot variance for total sign area allowed for <br />a business use (44 square foot of that is for canopy signs). Violations of Ord. <br />90-125, Section 1163.12(j) and 1163.11(a). <br />Variance for canopy granted February 3, 1993. <br />Chairman Gomersall called all interested parties before the board. The oath was <br />adninistered to Mr. Spenmulli. Mr. Purper had seen this type of canopy signage in <br />Rocky River and believed that there was too much copy. The members questioned if <br />the station at Butternut and Lorain had the "best in the long run" portion on <br />their sign. Building Comnissioner Conway did not think so. The members had no <br />problem with just the "Marathon" on each side. Mr. Spermulli agreed. Mr. Conway <br />suggested that the square footage not be stipulated in the motion, just the sign <br />area for the word "Marathon" and he would advise of what the square footage would <br />be at the next meeting. R. Gomersall moved to grant to Spremulli Marathon, 28700 <br />Lorain Road, their request to install 2 prohibited signs on the canopy for <br />"Marathon" on the east and west sides; and.to grant the total sign area allowed <br />for business use to accommodate these "Marathon" signs on the canopy, seconded by <br />J. Maloney, and unanimously approved. Variance granted. <br />11. Stark W. Heppler, 2801 West 230th Street._ <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request 612 square foot variance for rear yard <br />coverage exceeding the 20% allowed for deck with hot tub and addition to rear of <br />garage (already constructed). Violations of Ord. 90-125, Section 1135.02(d) (2). <br />5
