?
proposedlapproved North Olmsted Fire Station no. l, seconded by K. O'Rourke, and
unaniinously approved.
II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF MINIJTES: (Heard at this point).
L. Orlowski moved to approve the minutes of May 28, 1994 and June 14, 1994, seconded by P.
Miller, and unanimously approved.
V. CONIMUNICATIONS:
In reference to Minor Changes, Bu.ilding Commissioner Conway advised that the Architectural
Board had requested to review of Clark Oil. Because of the problem with some of the colors of
the B.P. Station, Mr. Gorris asked that the A.R.B. review all proposed changes for gas stations,
and that those developers be asked to mute their colors. If the ARB. has a problem with the
colors, then it can come back to the commission for a final review.
Regarding the minor change requested by Red Robin (formerly Chester's), Mr. Conway advised
-tkat they want to remove both the blue parapet and the blue canopy and replace the parapet with
a-Diyvit like cornice aud add an atrium entrance with glass and brick. The members had no
? problem with the proposal, but would like the Architectural Board to review it.
?
Regarding the Ponderosa Steak House mural, the Architectural Review Board had split the vote,
two for and two against. The dissenting members had a concern that once there was one mural in
the city, others would go up and each person has his own idea of art. Actually, Nuevo Acapulco
has also started one. Mr. Gorris agreed with the A.R.B. and stated that he would like to deny all
murals the same way the commission has handled back lit awnings. The members agreed. "°
Best Products is requesting a 10 foot high, 20 by 48 foot chain link fence enclosure to store
pallets and other items that are currently stored outside. He noted that there is a 6 foot privacy
fence on the property now. Mr. Orlowski pointed out that the commission had denied Wal Mart
permission to store pallets, etc., outside. This is an existing condition, these items are now being
stored outside and there is nothing to prohibit this at present, but the owners are willing to
improve the appearance. Mr. Tallon thought that perhaps something prohibiting outside storage
should be included in the Business Regulations. The members agreed to allow them to put up the
chain link fence with the condition-that it had slats in it.
Pheasant's Run is requesting a second entrance to the shopping center again. The members agreed
that since this has been denied previously, it shou.ld come back as a formal presentation. Mr.
Conway asked Mr. Dubelko if the commission would have to hear this at a11, since it has been
denied twice. Mr. Dubelko advised that, his first reaction would be that they could come back
every year, but suggested that some kind of fee should be charged. The Building Commissioner is
working on fees for Planuing Commission at this time. ..
Regarding C.E.I. substation behind Great Northern Shopping Center currently has a three sided
brick wall that matches the brick on the center. Since it now needs repair, they want to remove it
and install a chain link fence which will be screened with arborvitae. The members agreed that
they should re-build the wall.
8
