Mr. Papandreas gave a briefhistory ofthe Plaza South, and explained that the <br />center has not lived up to their expectations. Best buy will be taking over several vacant units <br />including Gentry's, one of the original anchor stores which is leaving. There is a trend now for <br />larger, national tenants in shopping centers and they believed that this tenant will generate the <br />activity they need. He presented a brochure explaining the proposal. He pointed out that the <br />boxed in parking area actually belonged to the mall, even though for practical purposes is <br />considered part of Plaza South. He explained that exhibit 3 shows what is being proposed with <br />the yellow portion being the existing units that Best Buy will be taking over and the brown <br />indicates what is being added and noted that the addition does not exceed the farthest point of the <br />plaza. An existing storage area behind M C Sporting Goods will be converted for Best Buy's `use. <br />The load.ing dock for Best Buy will be relocated all the way to the north and will be screened. <br />They believed that this would alleviate some of the problems noted by the neighbors at the <br />Planning Commission meeting. Mr. Gomersall agreed that it would be better for the residents <br />behind Plaza South. Ms. Oring, a resident of Country Club Condominiums, asked to speak and <br />agreed that this will be better for the residents behind Plaza South, however, there is a very big <br />5
