-T
advised Mr. Wyman that this proposal would not have to retum to Planning Commission and
could go directly to the B.Z.D. Committee of Council which is going to be August 15th.
13. St. Brendan's Modular Classroom Unit 4242 Brendan Lane.
Request for variance (1123.12). Request 65 foot variance for location ofunit. Violation of Ord.
90-125, Section 1118.02( fl(2).
Chairman Gomersall called all interested parties before the board. The oath was administered to
Mr. Frick, of the North Olmsted School System, Mr. Lak, representing the Cleveland Diocese,
and neighbors, Mr. Simon and Mrs. Murphy. Mr. Lak advised that this land had been the
diocese's property and an easement was granted Ohio Bell Telephone Company to allow them to
place the classroom on the property since they cannot place a state funded building on church
property. Mr. Simon asked if the 65 foot variance for the bu.ilding could be extended down the
property beyond the building, or does it just include the area where the building is located. He is
concerned that the rest of the property might be used for something else in future. Mr. Gomersall
advised that the variance was for this unit only, they could not put another one in without coming
back to the board. W. Simon clarified that his property was about 10 to 12 feet from this line and
stated that they have had a lot of trouble with football and baseball games being played behind
their property. Mrs. Murphy asked if there would be lights, because young pQopie would
congregate back there. Mr. Frick stated that there were no plans for lights, but there would be an
air conditioning unit in back wluch would be fenced in and there are security awuings over the
windows. He did not believe that the entire back will be fenced in. Mr. Frick thought that St.
Brendan's was going to expand out to that side, but the neighbors thought it was to be toward the
other side. Mr. Lak stated that this would not be for some time. The neighbors were concerned
that the children will vandalize the unit. Ms. Boyle would like to qualify the motion so that this
variauce would be only for this structure, not for something else in the future. The members
agreed it should only be for the modular u.nit. R. Gomersall moved to grant the request for St.
Brendan's at 4242 Brendan Lane for a 65 foot variance for the location of the proposed modular
class room unit only. Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section 1118.02(fl(2). Seconded by W. Puxper,
and unauimously approved. Variauce granted. Duriug the framing of the motion, Building
Commissioner Conway advised that the air conditioning unit would not need a variance.
14. Joseuh Kolar, 4598 Vernon Drive.
Request for variance (1123.12). Request 19.5 square foot variance to construct detached garage
(existing attached garage on property). Also request 3 foot side yard variance for driveway.
Violation of Ord. 90-125, Sections 1135.02(c)(3) and 1135.07(a).
Chairuian Gomersall called all interested parties before the board. The oath was admiuistered to
Mr. and Mrs. Kolar, who explained that they needed the second garage to store an antique car
and for other storage since there was not enough room in the attached garage. The members had
no questions. W. Purper moved to grant the request to Joseph Kolar, 4598 Vernon Drive, for a
19.5 square foot variance to construct detached garage (existing attached garage on property).
Also request 3 foot variance side yard for driveway. Violation of Ord. 90-125, Sections
1135.02(c)(3) and 1135.07(a). The motion was seconded by T. Koberna, and unanimously
approved. Variances granted.
6
