The oath was administered
to Douglas Bloomfield, and neighbor, Mr. Lesniak, who lives in the rear. Mr. Gomersall noted
that the address on the agenda should have read 4499, not 499. Request variance for two additional wall signs (one allowed);
request 34 square foot variance for sign area allowed for a business building for each of the three
wall signs; request 2 foot, 5 inch variance for height of letters on each of the three wall signs;
request 154 square foot variance for sign area for a business use; and request 199 square foot
variance for excess total sign area allowed for a business building. Violation of Ord. 90-125,
Sections 1163.12(a), 1163.11(a) and 1163.11(b).
Chaiimau Gomersall called all interested parties before the board. The oath was administered to
the oath was administered to Mr. Wilkes, sign contractor, who explained they wanted 3 signs ou
the building. Mr. Maloney would like the signs reduced somewhat. Mr. Wilks responded that the
signs are manufactured nationally, and the J.C. & P. are 36 inches high and the rest of the letters
are 2.5 foot. Mr. Conway clarified that they figured the overall height because the word
"fiuniture" is under the "J. C. Penny". However, he fiuther advised that the sign on the north
elevation does not actually need to be addressed since it is not visible from a public right of way
(it is only visible from the IVIall property). This would reduce the excess total sign area by 109
square feet so they would need a variance for 90 square feet variance for excess total sign area
6
