been presented originally, because this is a different board and they wanted their input. She pointed out
that they were not going to be on the tenant sign in front. The "FactoryCard Outlet" letters are 30
inches high, and the "Party Shop and Balloons" are 24 inches. She suggested that they could have the
words "Party Shop" in 18 inch letters with the balloon logo, which would also explain what they sold.
She clarified that 40% of their business was cards and 60% was discounted party supplies. The members
discussed various options. It was decided that 18 inch letters with the words "Party Shop" , 13 feet long
would be 28.5 square feet. Ms. Boyle believed that the words "party shop" were misleading. It was
figured that there would be 84 square feet for "Factory Card Outlet" and 18.5 square feet for Party
Shop. W. Papandreas stated that there was a coucern that with just the words "Party Shop" there, it
would not be proper identification. Mr. Gomersall stated that the city is trying to get away from logos
since everyone wanted one. It was suggested that they be allowed to have one balloon logo on the side
wall. The members agreed and stated that tlus would be 23.5 square feet. The Herbsters stated that the
side sign would not be visible from Mill Road. It was noted that it would only be visible from the
parking lot. B. Gomersall moved to grant the request of Factory, Card Outlet 27240 Lorain Road for
second wall sign and their request 23.5 square foot variance for excess signage for a business unit. Also
their request for a 9 square foot variance for one wall sign over the maximum square footage allowed
and a variance for second wall sign and the verbiage on the side wall will read "Party Shop" and will
include one balloon logo. Violation of Ord. 9,0- 125, Section 1163.12.(a) and 1163.11(a). The motion
was seconded by J. Maloney, and unanimously approved. The oath was administered to Ms.
Stames and Mr. Pascal, the contractor. Mr. Pascal believed that there was an error in the write up. The
inspector had stated 10 feet, but he believed that they would need a 14.5 foot variance. The board has
no problem with the request and stated that if he did not need the 14 feet he could always put in less,
but could not exceed the variance. R. Gomersall moved to grant the request to Gerry Starnes, 6640
Cypress, for a 14.5 foot rear yard variance to construct a family room addition. Violation of Ord. 90-
125, Section 1 T35.08(a). The motion was seconded by M. Boyle, and unanimously approved. Variance
granted.
14.
