Chairman Tallon clarified that this could not <br />be a back lit awuing, it could only be a sign., Mr. Doty advised that this was a sign that would be <br />complimentary to the avvuing below it. Regarding Mr. Conway's letter about the seating capacity, Mr. <br />Doty advised that he would be sending a seating plan to him showing the proposed 60 seats. The <br />outside cooler will be enclosed to match the brick on the building, which is to addressed as a minor <br />change. Mr. Doty explained that the cooler will be on the north wall and the condenser will be on the <br />roof of cooler and will not be visible. <br />R. Tallon moved to refer Chesapeake Bagels, 24950 Lorain Road, proposal to renovate , former <br />restaurant for bagel shop, including outdoor patio, to the board of zoning appeals that the variances for <br />the patio be granted and for doing business in the 75 foot front setback be granted and refer to the <br />architectural review board for their review of the materials an& signage. This proposal will then be <br />approved if the variances are granted and with the recommendations of architectural review board. The <br />motion was seconded by T. Brennan, and unauiinously approved. It was clarified during the framing of <br />the motion that this will go to the November 7th board of zoning appeals and then on to the November <br />architectural review board, but it would not have to return to the commission. <br />5) Hollywood Video 4692-4678 Great Northern Blvd. <br />Proposal to renovate storefront which will include neon. <br />Referral to board of zouing appeals is required for signage. <br />This proposal was withdrawn by the developer for this meeting. <br />6) Burger King, 26270 Lorain Road <br />Proposal to revise lighting on property. <br />Original proposal denied on September 10, 1996. <br />Ms. Miller, representing the sign contractor and Burger King, explained that they are replacing four <br />existing poles and installing three new ones. The poles will be a total of 16 feet high, the same height as <br />the building, with a forward throw light and 400 watt metal halide bulbs. The members studied the <br />photometric plan, and it was noted that in some instances the foot candles were higher than the first <br />plan; and there was 29.2 foot candles on the north west comer was and 10.1 foot candles belund the <br />south east fixture. Ms. Miller explained that the crosses on the plan were lights that would not be <br />installed. The members were confused because some poles were marked `?uew poles" and were crossed <br />out. Ms. Miller clarified that they would be taking down the three existing poles and adding 3 new, 14 <br />foot poles on a 2 foot base. Mr. Brennan stated that this is not parking lot lighting, they are directing it <br />toward the building. He explained that lighting the parking lot can be serviced with a simple shoe box <br />fixture directed down. He has a problem with the style of the fixhires, and believed that they are trying <br />to make parking lot lighting into architectural lighting and there is nothing architecturally spectacular <br />about a Buxger King. Mr. Herbster stated that every one of these lights are brighter now than it was <br />before. Ms. Miller stated that this was to be their cooperate image across the country and they want tc <br />upgrade the lighting for security reasons. Mr. Tallou stated that the commission addressed that at th( <br />last meeting and security lighting is about .53 foot candles. Mr. Brennan noted that every pole with a <br />double head on is 800 watts of lights. There is only one single pole in the back. Mr. Tallon suggested <br />6
