Maloney made a motion to grant the variances for Chesapeake Bagels/Sweet Beans Coffee Shop, <br />24950 Lorain Road; as amended, to have a second tenant sign on a free standing sign. Violation of <br />Ord. 90-125, Section 1163.12 (h). The approval of this variance will exempt the proposal fron <br />ord.inance 1163.26, which would have required removal of the sign by January 1, 1998. Ms. Doyle <br />clarified the agenda should read "Chesapeake Bagels Bakery/Sweet Beans Coffee Shop." The motion <br />was seconded by R. Gomersall and unanimously approved. <br />7. William and Laura Kozel, 24853 Randall Drive, <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request 11 foot rear yard variance to construct patio enclosure. <br />Violation of'Ord. 90-125, Section 1135.08(a). - <br />Chairman Gomersall called all interested parties before the board. The oath was administered to Mr. <br />Kozel. The members had no problem with the proposal. <br />T. Koberna moved to graut to William and Laura Kozel, 24853 Randall Drive, an 11 foot rear yard <br />variance to construct patio enclosure. Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section 1135.08(a). The motion was <br />seconded by J. Maloney a.nd u.nauiuiously approved. . <br />8. Bill Jordan, 5262 Dewey Ave. - <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request 2 foot side yard variance. and 5 foot rear yard variance.to <br />replace existing detached garage. Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section 1135.02 (c-2). Identical variauce <br />was granted November 1, 1995, but has expired, Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section 1123.15. <br />Chairmau Gomersall called all interested parties before the board. The oath was adininistered to Mr. <br />Jordan. The members had no problem with this proposal <br />W. Purper moved to grant to Bill Jordan 5262 Dewey Ave., a 2 foot side yard variance and a 5 foot <br />rear yard variance to replace detached garage. The approved variance shall be subject, to identical <br />, stipulations as was the November 1, 1995 variance. Violation of Ord. 90-125, Section 1123.15. The <br />motion was seconded by T. Koberna and unanimously approved. <br />9. Great Northern Automotive. Inc. 26408 Lorain Road. <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request the following sign variances: <br />Request a 79.75 square foot variance for sign face area for a business use and a 51.25 square foot <br />variance for sign face area for a business unit. <br />Violation of Ord. 90-125, Sections 1163.11(A) and 1163.11(C). <br />NOTE: This is a non-conforming sign and must be removed by January 1, 1998. <br />Chairmau Gomersall called all interested parties before the board. The oath was administered to Mr. <br />Homeier, sign contractor and Mr. Iiines representing NAPA. Chairman Gomersall stated the request is <br />to change the verbiage on the existing sign. Mr. Homeier clarified they plan to install a new box, which <br />will be slightly smaller than the existing. Mr. Hmes was advised on January 1, 1998 the pole sign must <br />be removed. Mr. Gomersallasked that Mr. I?'ines begin talking to the building owner about eliminating. <br />the pole sign and installing something that is more conforming. Mr. Homeier questioned. what set <br />backs would be conforming. Assistant Building Commissioner Rymarczyk advised for a ground sign <br />five feet back from the right-of-way. Chairmau Gomersall verified.the board could not exempt the <br />request from the January 1, 1998 ordinance as the request also includes a vafiance -on-total signage face <br />area, which includes the pole sign.
