Bob also suggested that
there was a need to discuss the benefits and disadvantages for N.O.
citizens concerning the development of an Historic Area. Bob had
prepared a list to be presented at the meeting of Feb. 24th that
outlined some advantages:
city beautification, civic pride,
city recognition, stable property values.
Bob had also anticipated any concerns from N.O. citizens concerning
possible disadvantages from creating an Historic Area. He discussed
the importance of stressing to the citizens that no restrictions would
really exist for what they wanted to do concerning their home. The
NOLC should provide.help and direction for answering citizens'questions in
the future concerning home improvement that would be in keeping with
historic design. The only restriction that would exist from the NOLC
wou]d be concerning plaques. (A citizen must keep their historic home
imp.rovements or changes within historic design requirements).
Betty Lord suggested involving the N.O. Library in the future with any
work concerning publications provided for citizens requesting help with
historic restoration.
Mike Patton suggested that no comments be made at the Feb. 24th meeting
concerning possible funding for local citizens for any historic
home improvements or restorations.
Lois suggested that theNOLC, in cooperation with the N 0. Library,
provide information to interested citizens concerning home improvement
like window replacement, home repair, and historic design.
