(Originally heard by
Planning Commission October 9, 1984.)
Building Commissioner Gundy advised Mr. Carlisle, who was representing
Great Northern, that parking spaces would have to be 20' but number of
spaces conform to code. Parking lot cannot be entered from Pick and
Pay lot; delivery road runs behind stores. Mr. Gorris is concerned
about traffic congestion in that area, especially in view of the ad-
jacent bank drive-thru driveway. Shopping center will have a maximum
of 11 units and a clock tower will be installed at a later date. T.
Morgan moved that the Great Northern Retail Shopping Plaza revised
proposal to construct retail stores be referred to the Architectural
Board of Review; and to the Building Department for conformance to
parking requirements; and to the Fire Department for their review,
seconded by E. Traczyk, and unanimously approved.
3) Great Northern Theatre, 26315 Great Northern Shopping Center.
Proposal to construct addition to rear of theater.
Mr. Whitener of National Cinema Theatres and Mr. Martino, Architect,
presented plans to add three theaters to the rear of the existing:
two smaller theaters will accotmnodate approximately 200 people each;
larger theater will accommodate 480 people. Lobby, lavatories, and
concession stand will be enlarged. According to parking survey,
there is surplus parking available which will fulfill new parking
requirements. Gas, sanitary sewer, and water lines must be relocated.
Mr. Morgan suggested that proposal should be sent to the Fire Depart-
ment for review of exits and for any other input they might have. T.
Morgan moved that Planning Commission forward the proposal to construct
an addition to the rear of the Great Northern Theatre to the Architec-
tural Board of Review for their review; and to the Safety Department,
in particular the Fire Department, for review of entrance and exits
from the theater (the new addition in particular) and also for review
of the relocation of fire hydrants that are shown on the site plan,
seconded by E. Traczyk, and unanimously approved.
4) North Olmsted United Piethodist Church, 4600 Dover Center Rd.
Proposal to construct an addition (added to agenda).
(Special permit granted by Board of Zoning Appeals on March 6, 1985).
(Notification to neighbors will be sent for March 26, 1985 meeting).
