9 <br />? <br />e <br />PLANNING COMMISSION MARCH 26, 19$5 , PAGE 'L <br />for the addition to the Great Northern Movie Theatre./Listed below are five <br />items that should be addressed;/1.New section of building to be protected <br />by automatic sprinklers/L.Adequate means of egress to be provided per build- <br />ing code./3.Interior finish and trim must meet building code requirements./ <br />4.Exit, Emergency,.and minimum lighting level must meet Electric Code Stand- <br />ards./S.Fire Extinguishers must meet standard of NFPA #10". Regarding the <br />first item, it was pointed out that sprinklers in new addition will be limi- <br />ted to the areas required by the building code. Building Commissioner Gundy <br />stated that items -i? through 4 of the report will be reviewed by the Build- <br />ing Department and conformance to the Ohio Revised Code will be required; <br />item number 5 will be referred to the Fire Department. Mr. Gorris lias con- <br />cerns regarding paricing: his survey showed approximately 2,100., spaces in <br />the front parking areas (did not include rear employee parking). Parking <br />survey submitted by Great Northern showed 2,7511 spaces. Mr. Carlisle stated <br />that by code they were required to have 2,087. spaces for the entire develop- <br />ment; and that parking survey done on the day after Thanksgiving (busiest <br />shopping day of the year), only 82% of parking spaces were utilized. Parking <br />r,equirements for a free standing theatex of this size would be greater; <br />however in a shopping center requirements would be less because of the vari- <br />ous peak hours of the different type businesses. Building Commissioner <br />Gundy advised that parking provided does meet code. Mr. Carslisle would <br />like to present more information on parking studies to the Commission at <br />a later date. Engineer Schaller will have Fire Department check the loca- <br />tion of hydrants prior to issuing a permit. T. Morgan moved that the pro- <br />posed construction of an addition to the rear of the Great Northern Theatre <br />be approved by the Planning Commission with the recommendations of the <br />Architectural Board of Review, particularly with the landscaping at the rear <br />of the property; and also with the request that screening of the dumpster <br />be provided; and that the recommendations of the Safety Department be re- <br />viewed by the Building Department and made part of the construction, sec- <br />onded by J. Brown, and unanimously approved. <br />2) North Olmsted United Methodist Church, 4600 Dover Center Rd. <br />Proposal to construct an addition. <br />Heard by the Architectural Board of Review March 20, 1985. <br />Mr. Geary, Architect, Pastor Morrison and Mr. Solt of the Church presented <br />plans. Notices to adjacent neighbors have been sent for this meeting. <br />Architectural Board approved as presented. Fire Department report stated <br />"Our Assistant Fire Chief R. Osterhouse has reviewed N.O. United Methodist <br />Church and reports that the N.O.F.D. have no objections. He advises that <br />since this building is a place of assembly, all code requirements with <br />regard to exits, exit lighting, emergency lighting, interior finish, and <br />fire protection equipment must be met." B. Gorris moved to approve the <br />addition to the United Methodist Church, 4600 Dover Center Rd., as pre- <br />sented, seconded by J. Burns, and unanimously approved. <br />3) Mr. Carburetor, 24002 Lorain Road <br />Proposal to construct an addition <br />Heard by the Architectural Board of Review March 20, 1985. <br />Architectural Board had approved as presented. Revised site plan showing <br />parking spaces has been reviewed and parking conforms. Parking area will <br />be paved and the Engineering Department is reviewing for retention system
