Also request 48 sq, ft. variance
for total sign area. Violation of Ord. 62-33, Section 1221.06.
Chairman Remmel called all interested parties before the Board. The oath
was administered to Mrs. McLaughlin, Miss Dewey, Mrs. 0'Mally, neighbors
and J. Rettman of Brilliant Electric.Signs, and Mr. Mathews, owner. It
was explained that the gr-ound sign had been used at his former location
and was 8 sq. ft, larger than the ordinance permitted. Proposal was ex-
plained to neighbors. Lighting of sign will not intrude onto residential
property. Mrs. 0'Malley and Mrs. McLaughlin had no problem with sign.
Miss Dewey objected on the basis that in this particular area of Lorain
Road, there were no over sized signs. She believes that Lorain Rd. has
enough signs as it is now. C. Remmel moved to grant the variance, sec-
onded by R. Bugala. Roll call on motion: Remmel, Bugala, Graves, and
Helon, Nay: Horvath; Yes. Motion failed to pass. Variance denied.
It was explained to Mr. Mathews that other over-sized sign were grand-
fathered in, and if property is vacated, those signs will be eliminated.
9. Wilbert C. He explained that addition cannot be made
shorter because they must relocate closets and the f amily room will only
be approximately 17' by 17'. C.
