PLANNING COMMISSION MAY 24, 1983 PAGE 2
drainage plan to be developed, seconded by J. Brown, and
unanimously approved.
IV. NEW DEVELOPMENTS AND SUBDIVISIONS:
(1) Continued from May 19, 1983 meeting:
Country Club Blvd., median strip cut
Proposal is to allow an opening to be made in the median
strip of Country Club Blvd, west of Great Northern Blvd,
to provide access in both directions along Country Club
-- Blvd.for ingress and egress to a proposed restaurant to
be located at the southwest corner of the intersection
of Country Club and Great Northern Blvd.
Assistant City Engineer McDermott presented the preliminary
plans for a median strip cut on Country Club Blvd. and ex-
plained that the subsequent building proposal will be de-
pendant upon this approval. No'traffic control light is
planned at this time. According to Mr. Vollman of Bob Evans
Restaurants, City Engineer R. Zurawski suggested one :iLngress/
egress driveway at the west end of the property, rather than
2 separate drives which had been originally considered. Room
is provided for stacking 2 cars. This will be located west
of the inter-section of Great Northern Blvd and Country Club
Blvd. where 1480 exits onto Country Club from Great Northem
and is across from Great Northern Mall. Mr. Biskind, of
Great Northern Partnership, reviewed the plans. He stated
that his firm had closed one exit to the Mall and installed
the median strip at the suggestion of the City and over the
objections of some of his tennants, to elminate some of the
traffic problems in the area. He believes this cut will
create much congestion especially in the west bound lane.
The Commission.also has many concerns regarding the traffic
conditions at that point. It was suggested that Bob Evans
could provide a traffic study for the area. Assistant Law
Director J. Dubelko stated that he believed that the proposal
should be tabled and referred to the Safety Department for
study to give the City the opportunity to work with the
developer whose proposal is a proper use for the land. T.
Morgan moved to table the Country Club Blvd, median strip
so that it can be forwarded to the Safety Department for
their consideration and review, for any recommendation that
they might make for location of that driveway and ask the
Engineering Department for any input they might have rela-
tive to traffic for this particular proposal, seconded by
J. Roberts, and unanimously approved.
V. COMMUNIGATIONS:
No Items.
