ARCHITECTURAL BOARD OF REVIEW MAY 17, 1982 PAGE 3
The site plan is basically the same as previously presented.
The suggested site plan was not workable. Design of garages
is shown. Since..these garages back up to garages on adjacent
property, Mr. Friedrich stated that he would discuss with the
owner of the other apartment building the installation of a
fence at either end of both garages .to provide security.
Garage design does not match building, however, brick will be
the same. Inside garage area is open, Mr. Parry believes that
garages should be internally divided so that 2 or 3 spaces
are a unit. Mr. Friedrich stated that this has not been a
problem before. Trash recept.acle is not located on plan. A
4' by 5' dumpster is planned. Plans should show location
and screening for dumpster. Board does not want it located
in front of apartments. Existing trees will remain along
Brookpark Road to act as a buffer. S. Ebin moved to accept
plans as presented with the condition that the Safety Depart-
ment completely review it for safety vehicles and with the
strong suggestion that the owner carefully study and evalu-
ate the trash removal situation, seconded by R. Parry. Roll
call on motion: Ebin and Parry, Aye. Case, Nay.
V. NEW BUSINESS:
(a) Referred from Planning Commission April 27, 1982
Gastown, Inc. (Bill 0'Neil), 26516 Lorain Rd.
Proposal to construct gas station.
B. 0'Neil and S. Kidd, Engineer, explained the plans. The
existing building will be demolished. The building will be
earth tone face brick (Claycraft #96R) with Medusa 374-A
colored mor-tar, facia panels will be blue enameled aluminium
made by Warehouser and will match canopy. Canopy extends
over building and will be lighted. Board stated problems
with National City Bank drive which is a continuous curb cut
with the Gastown driveway. Representatives agreed to land-
scape along easement (which is no longer used) to separate
driveways. This will be same type landscaping as on west
side. A new guard rail will be installed. Pole sign
submitted above by City Sign Co. has been changed. Board
wi11 review pole sign as indicated on building plans.
S. Ebin moved to accept the Gastown plans as submitted with
the qualif ications that landscaping be added to the eastern
edge of the property to help define the driveways for the
gas station and the adjacent bank property; and with the
provision that the pole sign is set back at least 3' ac-
cording to whatever the code requires and that the height
and area of the pole sicgn conform to the City Ordinances,
seconded by R. Parry, and unanimously approved.
(b) Referred from Planning Commission April 27, 1982
Arby's Restaurant, 26368 Lorain Rd. (George Draeger)
Drive-thru Window and exterior alteration
