ARCHITECTURAL BOARD OF REVIEW
design and that the owner have
artist to study the design to
acceptable design, seconded by
approved.
MAY 17, 1982 PAGE 5
an architect or a trained
create a more pleasing and
R. Parry, and unanimously
(d) Referred from Planning Commission May 11, 1982
Speedy Muffler King, (L & L Construction), 4565 Great Northern
Exterior alteration
L. Pulka of L& L Construction demonstrated how the mansard
would be applied to the existing building. The verticle
panels are cobalt blue and the coping and bottom flashing
will be white which will frame the mansard in white. Letters
for sign will be attached through the metal and into the
block of the building. The Board suggested that the bottom
flashing be turned up (at 90 degrees) to reduce possibility
of water being driven behind the mansard. Mr. Pulka agreed
that this could be done. Mr. Parry believes that the white
frame on the mansard creates the effect of a sign across the
entire mansard. There will be painting done by another con-
tractor. Since some painting will be done on the trim in a
similar blue color, Mr. Parry believed that the white coping
and flasing could be painted also. Mr. Pulka stated that
the 20 year guarantee on the coping and flashing will not
be valid if they are painted. R. Parry moved to approve
the Speedy Muffler King new facia with the following recom-
mendations; that the bottom flashing have a 90 degree water
return and that the bottom and top flashing be painted to
match the blue color of the panel, seconded by S. Ebin, and
unaimously approved.
(e) Referred from Planning.Commission May 11, 1982
Sparks Tune Up (W. Durica, Jr.), 27045 Lorain Rd.
Review of site plan
Mr. Durica explainedthe plans. The existing building will
be painted white with blue trim on the top 3` (lower line
will be level where building is higher). There will be no
overnight parking. Mr. Parry did not believe that cars
could get into the first two parking spaces. He believes
parking can be rearranged. The existing driveway is used
by this building by agreement with the owners of the strip
center. The Board.questioned why no 7' set back had been
required since the use of the building had been changed.
R. Parry moved to approve the site plan with the recommen-
dations that they maintain the required 7' parking set back
and permit two parallel parking spaces in the front and
remove the remainder (three parking spaces) elsewhere on
the lot, seconded by S. Ebin, and unanimously approved.
