Reruest for extension of time on variance granted <br />9/6/67 fior a te:m.porary directional sign on the NE corner of the <br />intersection of Brookpark a.nd Coluiabia Roads. nermit t'ra.s granted for <br />a period of one year. <br />Request is in violation of Ordinance #62-33, Section 1225.0I (C-2). <br />Present: Mr. Margolius <br />Mr. Margolius explained tha,t the sign lea8s people to the entrance to Jaanestown <br />Apar-bnents which onens off of Columbia Road. There is no entrance on Brookpark Road <br />and the sign hPlps to direct persons not familiar with the area. He will remove <br />the lower arrow on sign and it will not be illuminatec?. Mr. Greene moved to grant <br />extension of time for one vear providing the sign remains unlit and the bottom section <br />is removed; seconded by Mr. Forcel lini and.passed. <br />5. Appellant: Paul J. Hruby. Rectuest to ereet a house at 1+39 Brenclan Lane with <br />insurficient front and rear y'ards. Front yard would be 49.58' and <br />rear yard would be 42.981. <br />Request is in violation of Ordinance #62-33, Section I159_.01 which <br />reauires a 501 front ,yard and Section 1163.0I which requires a 501 <br />rear yard. <br />Present: Mr,. and hlrso Hruby <br />Mr. Hruby explained that the lot in c?uestion h?.s an irregular front Iine. They would <br />sta.?r in liriewith the other houses on the street. The neighbor to the rear has a large <br />rear yard and has sent a letter stating that he has no oUjections to the request. (Mr. <br />I?ohn is owner of property imediately to rear).. Letters were also sent by Mr. McDaniolS <br />and several other persons in the area. They were presented for the Cityls records. <br />Mr. Roberts moved.to grant an 8' rear ya,rd variance and a 11 front yard variance; <br />seconded by Mr. Forcellini and p?.ssed. <br />6. ADpell?..nt: Saxon's Sandwich Shoppe, 26650 Lorain Raa.d. Request to remodel present <br />sign for ,,*hich a, variance wa.s granted on l*/3/68. The size of the sign <br />will not be cha,nged. <br />Request ir in violation of Ordinance ,-62-33, Section I225o02. <br />Since a representative of Saxon'swas unable to attend, Mr. Greene moved to continue <br />t11e case to the next meeting; secondecl by Mrs. Eian and pa.ssed. <br />7. Appellant: 2opps Department Store, Great Northern Boulevard. Request to erect <br />a sign fa.cing Brookpark Road west of Grea.t Northern Boulevard. Sign <br />is in. excess of per.mittec' Ga,uare footage and too high. <br />Fequest is in violation o£ Ordinance #62-33, SPCtion 1225.02. <br />Present: Renresenta.tive from Topps Departr.ient Store. <br />It was explained that there is no identification whatsoever for eastbound traffic <br />on Brookpark Road. Since Topps does not o?,rn tlle corner of Brookpark Road and Great <br />Northern Boulevard, the sign would be placed some d.istance west of the intersection. <br />Board members auestioned the positioning of the sign and felt that it might create <br />a traffic hazarel in that there is no entrance other than Great Northern Boulevard to <br />the store and west bound traffic might see the sign and thirilc that they could enter
