Ms. Diver moved, seconded by Mr. Lopez, to grant Third FederRl Savings 8i Loan of 26949 <br />Lo?-ain Rd the following variances for directional ground signs: <br />1. A vnriance for 4additional ground signs (directional) on a lot, code permits 1 applicant <br />shows 5, section 1163.27(a). <br />2. A vai•iance for ground signs located within the 35' line of sight triangle; code does not <br />permit applicant shows 4, section 1163.17(a). <br />3. A variance for ground signs less than 200 feet apart, code requires 200', applicant <br />shows less than 200', section 1163.27(a). <br />Motion passed 4-0. <br />St Brendan Church; 4242 Brendan Lane <br />Proposal consists of a new ground sign and the following variances are required. <br />1. A variance for a ground sign located within the 35' line of sight triangle, code does not <br />permit section 1163.17(a). <br />2. A 16 foot variance for a ground sign too close to side yard property line, code requires 20ft, <br />applicant shows 4ft, section 1163.27(b). <br />Father Tom Woost and Sign Graphics representative Tom Guggenbiller were administered the <br />o1th. Mr. Guggenbiller said the church would lil<e to replace their existing ground sign. Due to <br />the proximity of the drainage ditch the placement of the new sign is limited. The new sign will <br />be moved inward an additional 5 feet to improve pedestrian and vehicle line of sight. The new <br />sign will have a stone base and be aesthetically more pleasing. Letters from abutting neighbors <br />were submitted supporting the church's request. Ms. Rudolph aslced if the ground sign would be <br />illuminated and Mr. Guggenbiller said if an electrical line is found the sign would be on a timer <br />which would follow code. Members felt the new sign was warranted for both aesthetics and <br />vehicle/pedestrian safety. <br />Ms. Divei• moved, seconded by Ms. Bellido, to grant St Brendan Church of 4242 Brendan <br />Lane the following variances: <br />1. A 16 foot variance for a ground sign too close to side yard property line, code requires <br />20 ft, applicant shows 4 ft, section 1163.27(b). <br />Motion passed 4-0. <br />CMS12-08 Dervish Restaurant; 27600 Lorain Rd <br />Proposal consists of an outdoor patio and the following variance is required. <br />1. A 38 foot variance for outdoor business activity within required 75' setbaclc, code requires <br />75' applicant shows 37', section 1139,07. <br />Note: Proposal consists of seating for 12 with a 36" black piclcet fence surrounding the area per <br />revised site plan. <br />Architect David Maison and owner Fred Gee were administered the oath. Mr. Maison said the <br />outdoor patio was installed without proper permits by a previous tenant. The new tenant would <br />lilce to ineorporate the patio for outdoor seating. They have worlced with Planning Commission <br />4
