proposal didn't include the mullions for the pane style look. The owners chose to go with slider
windows as they look similar to crank-out windows which are in place now. Mr. Lane said the
front window is a bay window with casement style windows on both side, and the attic windows
are tilt-out windows. Mr. Schumann said the commission would like to see the mullions in the
windows to match those on the front of the home and windows either side of the bay should be
double hung. Mr. Dailey said double hung windows are not available that tall however they
could do a stacked double hung on either side of the bay window which would include mullions.
The commission would like the new windows to include mullions which will mimic the homes
existing windows. Mr. Neville asked if the glass in the sunroom would be replaced and Mr. Lane
said no. Ms. Wenger asked the color of the windows and trim and Mr. Dailey said all windows
and triin will be white, however they could be framed with blue if required. Mr. Schumann asked
if all widows would be replaced and Mr. Lane said no. Mr. Morse said the homes style has been
altered and the original elements are no longer there. Commissioners felt the proposed windows
as discussed would be a good fit however the mullions and window trim color of all windows
should be white.
1VIr. Schumann moved seconded by Mr. Morse to grant CMS15-3306: Christopher &
Glenda Lane of 25912 Butternut Ridge Road a Certificate of Appropriateness for replacing
the existing windows contingent upon:
1. The front 2 first floor windows are to be double hung 8 over 1 or B each 4 over 1.
2. The front second floor windows will have mullions added
3. The west side of the house will have double hung windows with mullions.
4. All windows are to have white trim and white mullions.
Motion passed 8-0.
OLD BUSINESS
Landmark Recol4nition
Seltzer and Knight-Biddulph landmark plaque ceremonies
Mr. Limpert said a date for the Seltzer home ceremony has been set however the Knight-
Biddulph home hasn't. They have been unable to make contact with the Knight-Biddulph
owner.
Centennial Home Program
Proposal to alter Historic Recognition Program
Ms. Judith Herman was present to discuss her 29880 Lorain Road home with the commission.
Mr. Neville explained the two methods of recognizing a home. Ms. Herman said she would be
interested in a plaque which recognizes the age of her home. Mr. Dubelko said in researching
Ms. Herman's home he found that it was the home of Buel Stearns. Mr. Morse said the home has
quite a bit of history and deserves more recognition then a happy plaque. Ms. Herman said she
didn't want to make a big deal about having a plaque on the home. Mr. Schumann said a Stearns
home would meet the requirements for a plaque based on its owner.
2
