A 29 ft. variance for installing a 6 ft. high board on board fence <br />in the neighbor's 50 ft. setback on a corner lot is requested; code does not permit, 1135:02( fl(a). <br />The oath was administered to Dawn Young. Ms. Young said the existing 4 foot chain link fence <br />is over 25 years old and needs to be replaced. She would like to replace the chain link fence with <br />a 6 foot board on board fence for privacy and keeping her dogs in the yard. The placement of the <br />new fence would be the same as the existing fence. Ms. Rudolph asked if the fence impeded <br />vehicular line of site and if there would be any space between the fence slats. She suggested <br />installing a shadow box style fence which would allow for some visibility. Mr. Allain questioned <br />the visibility of a board on board fence and Mr. Russell said a board on board is considered a <br />solid fence. Ms. Young said there would be space between the boards and she is concerned that <br />children puttirig their hands through slats in a chain link could be bit. Mr. Allain said with the <br />home on a corner lot, placing a fence to code is challenging, however he objects to a fence which <br />is solid. <br />Mr. Papotto moved, seconded by Ms. Rudolph, to grant APP15-3028: Dawn Young of <br />24305 Gessner a 6 ft. high board on board fence in the neighbor's 50 ft. setback on a corner <br />lot; code does not permit, 1135.02(f)(a), which passed 3-1 as Mr. Allain voted no. <br />APP15-3039: Jeff Stumeon; 3092 West 231Sr: <br />Proposal consists of a new garage. The following variances are requested: <br />1) A 2.5 ft. variance for locating a garage from a side property line; code requires 5 ft., <br />applicant shows 2.5 ft., 1135.02(c)(2). <br />2) A 10 ft. variance for locating a garage from a rear property line; code requires 10 ft., <br />applicant shows 0 ft., 1135.02(c)(2). <br />3) A 2 ft. variance for garage height, code permits 15 ft., applicant shows 17 ft., 1135.02(c)(1). <br />4) A 1 ft. variance for a garage located from a dwelling; code requires 15 ft., applicant shows 14 <br />ft., 1135.02(c)(1). <br />The oath was administered to Jeff Sturgeon. Mr. Sturgeon said the existing garage is in poor <br />condition and needs to be replaced. The existing garage has a flat roof and the back section of the <br />garage has sunk due to the proximity of the old ditch. He would like to install a slightly larger <br />garage to ensure all his vehicles fit within the garage. The abutting land consists of easement <br />area and a city culvert that is surrounded by chain link fencing. He would like to remove his <br />2
