?
2. A 1 ft. variance for the height of the accessory structure; code permits 9 ft., applicant shows
10 ft., Section 1135.02(d)(1).
Mr. Aspery stated that the applicant is requesting a variance to allow a 192 sq. ft. shed in the rear
yard. Code allows for an accessory structure up to 120 sq. ft. based on the lot size, therefore
requiring a variance of 72 sq. ft. for the proposed shed. Additionally, a variance is requested to
exceed the maximum accessory structure height by one foot; code requires a maximum of 9 feet,
and the applicant shows 10 feet.
Mr. Drazen stated that he chose this size shed because he did not want to worry about installing a
footer for a larger structure. The shed would be used to store children's toys and equipment. Ms.
Meredith clarified that the lot is approximately 12,000 sq. ft. There is not much storage in the
house. Mr. Allain clarified that the structure will be permanent. Mr. Allain sympathized with the
owner's struggle with storage, but he pointed out that the structure would remain after the kids'
toys are gone. Discussion regarding other temporary storage solutions. Ms. Meredith pointed out
that the neighbor close to the shed location would see the top four feet of the shed above their
fence. There is a chain link fence along the back property line. According to the Mr. Drazen, the
shed style has not been determined. Ms. Meredith offered the option to table the proposal but the
owner did not want to wait due to concerns about the weather. The shed would be sided and
would not have electricity. Mr. Papotto asked if the shed could be brought down one foot to
comply with code. Mr. Allain did not believe the owner substantiated his hardship for the
variance. Ms. Meredith did not believe the height variance was needed.
Ms. Meredith moved, seconded by IVIr. Papotto, to grant the following variances as written
for 16-7115; Kevin Drazen; 26730 Ross Circle:
1. A 72 sq. ft. variance for a shed; code permits 120 sq. ft., applicant shows 192 sq. ft.,
Section 1135.02(d)(1).
2. A 1 ft. variance for the height of the accessory structure; code peranits 9 ft., applicant
shows 10 ft., Section 1135.02(d)(1).
Motion denied 0-5.
COMMEI2CIAL APPEALS ANI) REQUESTS
16- 6591; La Quinta Inn & Suites; 25105 Countrv Club Boulevarcl
Representatives: Paul Patel, owner; Stephen Berry, architect, 374 Boardman Poland Road,
Youngstown, OH
Proposal consists of signage.
