He shared
pictures of one of the homes in the Ohio City area which was given as an example by the
applicant's contractor. He was impressed that the material had the look of wood. He also used
"This Old House" online which had good reviews for the material overall. Mr. Schumann wanted
to ensure that all details from the home that are going to be removed will be restored. Mr.
Pearson stated that they will be, such as window trim, gussets, beaded ceiling on the porch, etc.
The applicant plans on restoring the decor that was shown in the 1915 picture, with visually
identical elements. Mrs. Pearson stated that the siding will be blue, not white like the picture.
Mr. Dubelko asked if the board has discretion to approve this material under Chapter 165. Mr.
O'Malley reviewed the Chapter 165 and suggested incorporating the elements to be preserved in
the Certificate of Appropriateness approval. Mr. Neville pointed out that removing old wood pieces is difficult, Mr. Pearson stated that there
are a lot of pieces that are already damaged. Mr. Pearson said there may be a wood composite
product that can be cut to look like the elements in the 1915 photo. Mr. Neville agreed that the
existing architectural elements should be preserved or replaced and to restore the old
architectural elements. Mr. Pearson is hoping to have the work done by this time next year.
