Mr. Skerritt needs the larger garage to accommodate the amount of stuff he has, <br />including recreational vehicles. Mr. Papotto clarified that the garage could be moved over 18 <br />inches and Mr. Russell stated that there are materials that are fire-rating approved. Mr. Raig <br />stated that he believed the applicant would be able to get the first and second variances but be <br />able to use fire-rated approved materials for the walls, the others agreed. Mr. Allain did not think <br />that the easement can be taken into consideration due to future potential of the easement being <br />returned and possible maintenance issues. <br />Mr. Mackey moved, seconded by Mr. Allain, to grant the following variance for 17-8995; <br />John Skerritt; 23156 Summerland Avenue: <br />1. A 3 ft. 6 in. variance for side yard setback; code requires 5 ft., applicant shows 1 ft. 6 <br />in., Section 1135.02(c)(2). <br />Motion passed 3-1, Mr. Allain voted no. <br />Mr. Papotto moved, seconded by Mr. Allain, to grant the following variance for 17-8995; <br />John Skerritt; 23156 Summerland Avenue: <br />2. The property is <br />zoned One Family Residence A. <br />The following variances are requested: <br />1. A special permit to add to a non-conforming building, Section 1165.02(b)(1). <br />2. A variance to add to a non-conforming building where the addition does not conform to all <br />setback, lot coverage and height regulations; applicant shows addition within rear yard <br />setback, Section 1165.02(b)(2). <br />Mr. Aspery stated that the applicant's proposal consists of a building addition, parking lot <br />expansion and site work to the existing Friend's Evangelical Church.
