Mavor's Art Show
James reviewed the event timeline, specifically asking for assistance with art hanging and
working the event. The Commission will be gathering on March 23`d at 10:00am in City Hall to
hang the student artwork and on March 27th at 4:30pm to set up for the event. Tasks will include
staffing the artist check-in table, setting up refreshments in the Caucus Room and assisting with
sculpture set up in Council Chambers.
Citv Hall Art Gallerv
The group unanimously approved the next group exhibit. Tentatively titled Natural Wonders, the
format will be similar to the 2016 Springscapes exhibit but will be broadened to include scenes
from all aspects of nature. James will consult with Jackie to create a new and improved name for
the gallery before James sends out the Call for Artists in early February. The group show will be
installed May 1 St and will replace the NOHS student artwork exhibit.
Earth Fair
Jackie provided updates on each event component and their respective member assignments.
James will finalize sponsorship language and get the letter and form to Jenny for her use. Jenny
asked members to send her any ideas of businesses to contact for sponsorships. It was agreed that
while crafts have historically been a large part of the event, crafts and giveaways should be more
eco-friendly. Lauren confirmed that she is prepared to make another tree board similar to last
year and will research less wasteful giveaway prizes. Similarly, Leah and Jackie confirmed their
intent to invite more "earth-centric" market and food vendors as opposed to unrelated local
vendors. Lauren will contact the North Olmsted Library to ask about their pop-up library
attending the event and potentially offering book prizes. James will book the live animal vendors
as well as Trash Talkers. Wilma is coordinating volunteers. Laura and James will coordinate
music using the PA system. Jenny will contact the Cuyahoga Soil and Water Conservation
District to inquire about an informational rain barrel table. Lauren and James will work together
on a physical event brochure incorporating the passport idea to encourage guests to explore the
event.
Citv Beautification Event
Jackie updated the group on her idea to transform the interior of a Senior Transportation
Connection bus. Other ideas included more notable, permanent improvements. Jenny suggested a
sculpture near the existing City digital sign. Leah and Annie added that significant improvements
could be made to that corner, such as a fence mural or some sort of mini-sculpture garden. James
mentioned a possible effort to support the City's GO North Olmsted initiative and suggested that °
the group revisit this topic in more detail at the February meeting. To that end, he will compile a
comprehensive list of beautification and physical improvement ideas found in the 2015 Master
Plan for reference.
Miscellaneous
Rack card progress update
Lauren will have a revised rack card draft ready for print in the next day or so. The cards will be
displayed around the community and handed out at Spring events.
Tea & Trumpets interest
