,
City Hall Art Gallery
James confirmed that there has been one submission for the group exhibit so far, despite having
been shared online repeatedly. If there are not enough submissions to fill City Hall by the March
9th deadline, he will reach out to the interested artists for a potential solo show or ask JoAnn
DePolo to provide her student's artwork. JoAnn has already expressed a willingness to step in to
fill the space if needed.
Earth Fair I Apri122
Jenny distributed sponsor contact telephone numbers for members to follow up on by the first of
March. The sponsorship deadline is March 16t', therefore outreach is important to confirm
commitments. James confirmed that revenue to-date is $320 and consists of two vendors and two
sponsors. Jackie has a goal of $500 to make the butterfly release a reality and has a few sponsors
pending to achieve this goal. Leah shared her progress on finding Earth-conscious vendors,
adding that it has been more difficult than in past years due to Earth Day and loose commitments
from potential vendors. She will be talking to her NEO Food Truck Association contact to book
a healthy food truck for this event and others this summer.
Jackie inquired about inviting Olmsted Performing Arts performers to attend the event as
butterflies/fairies/ mother nature characters that woould interact among the kids. It was agreed by
all that they can attend as long as their presentation is professional and they follow an Earth-
related theme. There would be no charge for this service, but the performers will pass out OPA
promotional pieces to adults in attendance. James asked if there is an interest in offering a
"Touch-A-Truck" at the event. The group decided that due to a strict adherence to an "Earth"
theme this year, this event component would be a better fit at a summer event.
NEW BUSINESS
Citv Beautification Event I Mav
Jenny suggested a long-term beautification program involving local businesses or organizations
maintaining planters or hanging baskets at major intersections around the City, specifically at the
corner of Dover Center and Lorain Roads. Jackie and James will speak to City administration
regarding this idea and report back at the March meeting.
James stated that the 2015 Master Plan included the community's desire to strengthen
beautification efforts throughout the city in an ever-growing effort to make the city a more
attractive place to live, work and visit. He also stated that the Gateways Plan will also address
areas of beautification. To that end, ideas included commissioning murals at the buttress walls
near highway overpasses, fence decals along the bike path and painting trash can lids along the
bike path. It was agreed by all that the bike path trash can lid painting was the most feasible short
term project, with the potential to increase this to other sites around the city. Fence decals could
also be incorporated to this project depending on the level of difficulty it poses. James will create
an event rundown and begin coordinating with the NOHS Art Department to set a date and time
for a joint event.
Movie in the Park Activitv I June 15
The group agreed that it is important to offer a fun activity for kids and parents alike. An activity
could be themed around the movie being shown by the Parks & Recreation Department. Jackie
