1. A variance for an accessory structure used for video & pinball machine hobby, (code does
not permit, applicant shows hobby use), section (1135.02 (D2)).
2. A 2 foot variance for an accessory structure higher than code pernuts, (code permits 12 ft.,
applicant shows 14 ft), section (1135.02 (D2)).
Which is in violation of 90-125, Section (1135.02 (D2).
The following individuals came forward to be sworn in and address the Holmgren request.
Mr. Holmgren the owner, Mr. John Holmgren the applicants farther and the following
neighbors; Mr. Pollack, Mr. Esgar.
Applicant's presentation:
Mr. Holmgren asked why variance #1 was required. Mr. Rymarczyk indicated that the
accessory use is not permitted according to the zoning code, therefore a variance was required.
Mr. Holmgren reviewed that he collects and restores pinball machines as a hobby. The height
variance is for a second floor storage. He currently owns 40 pinball machines. Mr. Kelly
asked if it would be used as a game room or a business and if the accessory building would
have a heating and cooling system. Mr. Homgren stated that there would only be electricity
for lights and there would be no heating and cooling system. Mr. Pollack said the area is
residential, he feels a structure of that size would have a commercial use and he is against the
variances. Mr. Esgar is concerned that the use of the structure would be used commercially
and would like assurance that it could never,be used commercially. Mr. Holmgren indicated
that the accessory structure would have.a wooden floor only. The structure would be like a
three season room and they would follow all requirements of the engineering department. Mr.
Rymarczyk indicated that the pitch could be changed to eliminate the height variance.
T. Kelly moved to grant Bryan' Holmgren "of 5107 Whitethorn Ave his request for
variance (1123.12) which consists of an accessory structure and that the following
variances are granted as amended:
1.
