An 18 square foot variance for a ground sign larger than code permits, (code permits 50 <br />sq. ft, applicant shows 68 sq. ft), section (1163.26 (C)). <br />Which is in violation of Ord. 90-125 sections (1163,27 (A)), (1163.24 (B)), (1163.26 (A)), <br />and (1163.26 (C)). Note: #1) Includes 4 existing wall signs (155 sq') 1 existing canopy sign (22 sq') and <br />proposed new sign (23.7 sq'). <br />#2) Includes 3 existing Toyota directional signs, 1 existing Saturn directional sign and (2 <br />proposed ground signs to replace the 2 existing pole signs). <br />#3 As measured on one side of ground sign. <br />The following individuals came forward to be sworn in and address the request; Mr. Frye <br />Sunny Manager and Mr. Harris with Brilliant Signs. ? <br />Applicant's presentation: <br />Mr. Harris indicated that the sign is an existing pole sign, the applicant would like to remove <br />the pole sign and replace it with a ground sign. On the sign, there would be a Toyota symbol <br />which is calculated in the total size of the sign. The owner is trying to meet City codes by <br />decreasing the size of the lettering and taking down the pole sign. Mr. Frye indicated that the <br />sign would be white with black lettering and in two years he may be back to discuss the <br />building being changed to an all white face.; The proposed sign is a little smaller then Toyota's <br />standard sign. The bottom of the.sign would not be illuminated and he is removing two <br />existing pole signs. Once Toyota completes the mandatory changes for the Scion, he would <br />return with one sign package encompassing the entire site. Mr. Frye said that there are three <br />businesses on the lot now and they each have their own requirements for signage. The board <br />questioned if the applicant could get a smaller ground sign. Mr.. Harris was not sure but <br />thought there was a 10 foot ground sign possibly. <br />W. Kremzar moved to grant Sunnyside Saturn of 26890 Lorain Road their request for <br />variance (1123.12), which consis'ts of new signs and that the following variances are <br />granted as amended: <br />1. A variance for 5 wall signs on a building, (code permits 1, applicant shows 5), section <br />(1136.27 (A)). <br />2. A 38.7 square foot variance for total square footage of signs on a building #1., (code <br />permits 162 sq. ft., applicant shows 200.7 sq. ft), section (1163.24 (B)). <br />3.
