, • added along the rear to slueld the neighbors as well as at both entrances. The additional
plantings at the entrance and around the ADA parking area were also added.
Mr. Allen reviewed he had been a contractor for 13 years and has used thin brick on many
projects. He uses and recommends the Loxon panel system for mounting thin-brick. The
Loxon panel system fastens the mechanical panels to the sub-straight wifh the use of dimples
which sets the coursing for the brick. The thin-brick is then temporally glued to the panels
until the system is grouted. Tlze panels are designed to accommodate any water that may
penetrate the system by channeling it to run down the building and drain so that it does not
adversely affect the thin-brick system. He installed a thin-brick system on a building in 1996
and to date has had no call backs pertaining to the materiale The Loxon panel system will be
used at this location and will work with the Coronado Stone Company's thin-brick.
Mr. Yager reviewed that the system mentioned is the best system available. He suggested
having the manufacture develop 3% or 4% more thin-brick than what is required to have on
hand if maintenance replacement issues occur. The building prototypes submitted (page AO.S)
show three different color schemes used on existing buildingse He preferred North Olmsted
have a light color in between the stones and top-banding. The banding color should be the
three color palette submitted this evening. The softer colors will showcase the bell more
effectively. The bottom section of the entire building will be stone, the pillars will be EIFS and
the remaining sections of the building will be a light colored thin-brick. He would prefer the
north fagade not be arched to showcase the bell and the side elevations remain arched. Mrs.
Meredith requested the pillars be the Brickwood Clay color used in the three color pallet to
make the pillars standout. Mr. Dugas and the other commissioners agreed with the color
scheme, leaving the side walls arched and the front entrance flat,
Mr. Malone requested new landscape plans be submitted calling out all plants shown on the
plans as the junipers and other plants are shown but not listed in the table. The groundcover
should be blue rug or blue chip as they grow fast and cover well. Groundcover should be
extended along the front to encompass the ground around the crab apple trees. Plants around
the ground sign are not listed nor are the perennial plants. All planting materials should be
clearly listed on the table of the final plans. He felt the proposed plantings along the west
property line would keep the possible trash from blowing onto the neighbor's lot. He preferred
the tan vinyl fence along the rear property line over a white color fence.
Councilman Orlowski said that he was present to request a low lying fence along the west
property line as the owner has a lot of rubbish blowing onto his property. He also asked if the
proposed color scheme for the sign package could be changed as he felt the colors were loud.
Mr. Yager reviewed that corporate logos and sign colors are part of a business identity. The
applicant has been very accommodating by toning down the building colors to meet the city's
needs and felt the bell color should remain as is. Ms. Wenger pointed out that the size of the
proposed bell is smaller than 4-feet which is allowed by code. Mr. Malone advised that a low
fence could be placed from the southwest property line forward a part of the way, but the
abutting owner stated that the problem was along the front of his lot not the side or rear. Mr.
Lasko felt that the proposed landscaping would better serve the site then placing a fence along
the west property line. Mr. Yager said that the applicant stated that the manager would address
the issue in house and the lot would be cleaned every hour. Mr. O'Malley suggested the
commission restrict the use of temporary signs/expression panels in the windows as part of the
applicants' final approval.
2
