Develop a five-year capital improvement program focused on maintaining and improving the <br />City's infrastructure. <br />Time Frame: Short range%ngoing <br />Primary Responsibility: Administration <br />Supparting Parties: City Council <br />Status: A five-year capital program has been developed by the Service Department; <br />however all administrative departments should participate in this process. <br />e. Educate commercial property owners within the City's retail, office and industrial districts <br />about the option of creating "special improvement districts." <br />Time Frame: Short range <br />Primary Responsibility: Planning <br />Supporting Parties: Chamber of Commerce <br />Status: In progress; the Planning Director addressed the Chamber of Commerce <br />regarding this opportunity. <br />f. Conduct a survey of businesses as needed to enable businesses to express concems and <br />recommendations to the City. <br />Time Frame: Ongoing <br />Primary Responsibility: Planning <br />Supporting Parties: Chamber of Commerce <br />Status: No official survey exists, but the City has regular communications with the <br />business community. The Planning Director will explore using the new E- <br />Govemment website services to create a feedback form. <br />g. Improve communication with the business and development community by identifying a <br />single liaison from City Hall to local businesses that would address concems. <br />Time Frame: Short range <br />Primary Responsibility: Planning <br />Status: Complete. <br />h. Convey to businesses and to tfie local Chamber of Commerce the many advantages of <br />keeping existing businesses and industries in North Olmsted through discussions and <br />promotional materials. <br />Time Frame: Ongoing <br />Primary Responsibility: Mayor, Planning <br />Status: !n progress with continued interactions between fihe administratiort and <br />business community. The City would benefit through more professional marketing <br />materials. <br />3. Housing <br />a. Create a publication for residents to use as a guide for home improvements and property <br />maintenance regulations. <br />Time Frame: Short range <br />Primary Responsibility: Building, Engineering <br />Status: ln prvgress; this idea has recently been pursued by City Council to create a <br />property awareness month with supporting literature. <br />4
