1. A variance for 1 additional wall sign on north side of drive-thru canopy, (see note), (code allows 3
applicant shows 4), section (1163.27 (A)).
2. A 1 foot variance for a wall sign higher than code allows, (code permits 4' applicant shows 5'),
section.(1163.27 (C)).
Which is, inviolation of Ord. 90-125 sections (1163.27 (A)) and (1163.27 (C)).
Note: Total number of signs includes 1 permitted canopy sign and one additional sign on the canopy
"North elevation clearance 11".
Mr. Boodjeh with Drug Mart came forward to be sworn in and address the request. Mr. Boodjeh
passed out new sign packets and advised that they require variances for two signs, one is on the
canopy facing Lorain Road for traffic and pedestrian safety and the north primary sign requires a 1
foot variance to have a 5 foot sign which will still be less than 100 square feet. They are reducing
the amonnt of signage by more than half the square footage of what is on the site now. The canopy
sign which faces Lorain Road will not be visible from the road. The existing Drug Mart sign on the
north elevation is 491 square feet and the new sign will be 90 square feet. The setback of the
building to the road warrants a 5 foot sign to be visible. Mr. Burke questioned if there was
sufficient parking spaces. Mr. O'Malley advised the board that the Planning & Design Commission
addressed the parking and traffic circulation for the site. Ms. Diver believed that for the safety of the
pedestri ans and vehicular traffic the canopy sign was warranted. All board members felt the canopy
sign was warranted for safety and had no objections to the front sign due to the building setback.
N. Sergi moved to grant Drug Mart of 24485 Lorain Road their request for variance (1123.12),
which consists of signage and the following variances are granted as amended:
1. A variance for 1 additional canopy sign on north side of drive-thru canopy, (see note), (code
allows 1 applicant shows 2), section (1163.27 (A)).
2. A 1 foot variance for a wall sign higher than code allows, (code permits 4' applicant shows
5'), section (1163.27 (C)). In accordance to plans dated received Apri119, 2007.
Which .is in violation of Ord. 90-125 sections (1163.27 (A)) and (1163.27 (C)). M. Diver
seconded the motion, which was unanimously approved.
3. Court Furniture; 4698 Great Northern Blvd: (WRD # 4)
Request for variance (1123.12). Proposal consists of erecting a 40 X 75 tent for a temporary tent sale
from 6/11/07 through 6/18/07 and 9/10/07 through 9/17/07.
The following variance is requested:
1. A.var.iance for 20 car parking space reduction, (code permits 0 applicant shows 20).
Which is in violation of Ord. 90-125 section (1161.05 (w)).
1VIr: Cristino the store manager came forward to be sworn in and address the request. Mr. Cristino
advised? that the tent sale would be their fourth tent sale. Board members understood that the sale
was a semi annual event and had no objections to the applicant's request.
N. Sergi moved to grant Court Furniture of 4698 Great Northern Blvd, their request for
variance (1123.12), which consists of erecting a 40 X 75 tent for a temporary tent sale from
6/11/07.through 6/18/07 and 9/10/07 through 9/17/07 the following variance, is granted:
A variance for 20 car parking space reduction, (code permits 0 applicant shows 20).
Which is in violation of Ord. 90-125 section (1161.05 (w)).
