CERTIF[ED LOCAL GOVERNMENT <br />The N-nrk ? <br />m E-Ncuslcncr (or Ohio'x <br />Ceni4raf Lucvl Guvcmmmn <br />2009 PROJECTS <br />The Landmarks Commission can take enormous pride in the <br />completion and approval of the application granting the City of <br />North Olmsted "Certified Local Government" status. This <br />designation, administered by the Ohio Historical Society and the <br />State of Ohio, allows the City of North Olmsted to pursue federal <br />grant money for historic preservation projects. Although more <br />work is necessary for the Commission to fully utilize this <br />opportunity, the completion and approval of the application is a <br />prestigious accomplishment. In 2010, the Landmarks Commission <br />will be applying for a grant to make the Old Town Hall of North <br />Olmsted ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant. <br />100lh Anniversary: Village of North Olmsted & North Olmsted City Schools Celebration <br />As part of the Homecoming Celebration in August of 2009, the <br />Landmarks Commission participated in a 100`" birthday party for the <br />Village of North Olmsted. This included a presentation by the <br />Landmarks Commission Chair about the history of North Olmsted. <br />Also as part of the Homecoming Celebration in August 2009, the <br />Landmarks Commission participated in the North Olmsted City <br />Schools' 100lh Anniversary Celebration. Deneen Kassouf of the Cuyahoga County Recorder's Office <br />was the inaugural speaker. <br />HISTORICAL MARKERS & HISTORICAL RECOGNITION PLAQUES <br /> The Landmarks Commission assisted in the successful application for an Ohio <br />? s Historic Marker for the Unitarian Universalist Church, working with the <br />? Rs,4 <br />church,s congregation and assisted by the Olmsted Historical Society. This <br />?cruRCH ? marker commemorates the 175'?' anniversary of the Olmsted Unitarian <br />EREC'EG 1947 Universalist Congregation.
