Design options for pedestrian enhancement and bicycle connectivity.
The Grrat Norrhern Muld Modal Transportarion Plan proposes a system of
imprwements to increase connectiviry and enhance options for pedesuians and
cyelists as shown on the bicycle and pedesuian imprwements map. Again> local
and regional desrinations aze shown with rcd-orange dots along with open space
improvunent areas shown with grxn dots.'Ihese improvements aze discussed
in further detail in section 2.04 of this report. The proposed improvements give
broader access to key locations for bikes and pedestrians, connecting pocket pazks,
the golf course, the cemetery and the library as well as wrncting a main deficiency
identified in the uisdng conditions analysis, the termination of bike path at the
I-480/SR 252 interchange.
Proposed pedestrian/bike path improvements arc shown as a medium brown line on
the birycle and pedesuian improvements map and areas of pedestrian deficiency thae
should be addressed arc shown as a yellow line.
One of the most significant recommendation to come out of the study is the
addition of bike lanes on Buttemut Ridge Road. While uutially considering options
for bike and pedesuian routes that crossed over Great Northern Boulevard closer
to the Mall, Butternut Ridge Road emaged as a more direa and safer altemauve
to connect the community to the Rocky Rivar Reservation of the Clevdand
Metropazks.
a - s,
? .a..,??....,
wire.rw?
s?
?/ ro?e.nw?ro
k'
.?:...
16 1 'Ihe Great Notthern Multi Modal Transportation Plan
Figure 25: Dedicaied bike lanes
Figure 26: Bike trails in parks
Flgure 26a: Bicycle and pedestrian improvements map
