phone in your seai-ch range. The irutial sites that are being built up includes the Brea water tanlc
which is part of tlus area, and the Westbury apar-tments, which they are also in the process of
getting permits for. It is putting an antenna on top of an existing CEI tower. There will be
cabinets that will be placed at the bottom of the tower. Mr. Koeth questioned if there would be
interference fi-om the electrical lines. Ms. Fox suggested CEI or the FCC would not allow them
to use the tower if tllere was going to be interference. The transmission of the megahertz is like
a microwave so there is no impact. Mr. Koeth questioned if the anteiuia sits above the CEI
wires, then your antennas would be the higliest part of the tower. Can any other company
attach antennas on that towet- or will yours be tlle only one allowed. 1VIs. Fox suggested their
antenna would be the only one on the tower as the tower would not be structurally sound
enough to hold more antennas. Mr. Brennan asked how close their antennas have to be to each
other to form their loop, and will tlus be your last anteiuia in North Olmsted. Ms. Fox
suggested she believed they would be before the Planning Commission one more time. Six
moths ago their company met with the City to negotiate an antenna on a building and it was
turned down completely, so this was their next choice. Mr. Brennan questioned 1VIs. Fox as to
how close the Westbuiy apai-tment antenna and this antenna would be to each other. Ms. Fox
suggested that distance of the Westbury is north east and this site is south west. Mr. Tallon
aslced how far apart do tlie antennas have to be fi-om each other. Ms. Fox indicated her-
company required a 190 foot Mona pole by the south side and since they could not obtain that
they are tryiiig to co-locate to an area which would be less intrusive to the City and everybody
concerned. The range between the towers diff-er depending on topography. The trees and hills
have to be talcen into consideration. Our RF Engineers provide us with a map which shows us
how the topogra.phy will effect the i-a»ge, they ar-e usually about two miles from each, but
they've been lucky and have been able to extend the distance to seven rniles. The two for this
area will be put in place and then they will have an idea of how it will work from there. Mr.
Asseff suggested then this is nothing but another wireless service that is going in, aI1Cl
questioued how many wireless services do we have now, there will be towers all over the place.
Ms. Fox reminded Mr. Asseff that the tower in question is an existing tower, and this is to
benefit the community and tlieir ol-dinance. Ms. Fox suggested in the Cities proposed ordinance
1151.04 ttse regulations states, a permitted use to a wireless communications tower shall be
permitted on or within an easement ot- parcel used for electric high tension power lines which
supports towers, that's the Cities ordinance, it is understood that it is not in effect yet, but they
are just trying to abide by the ordinance. NIr. Asseff suggested he was just questioning the
amount of wireless companies in general that are cropping up competing for towers and placing
antennas all over the place. NIs. Fox indicated they try to co-locate wliich is the best possibility
for everyone concerned the cost to construct a tower is exorbitant so we co-locate. Out of 119
their compazly has constructed only nineteen, compared to AT&T and Ameritech who have
constructed over seventy five of their towers. Ms. Fox suggested they are a new company up
and ninning and would lilce to keep tlte cost to a minimum and start iumling as soon as possible.
Mr. Asseff questioned if this was for a mobile phone, or something you would use around your
home, and asked Ms. Fox for clai-ification. Ms. Fox suggested it wil] be mai-keted towards
soccer moms, moms on the go that ai-ea of the market. Mr. Asseff asked if it would replace the
land line pliones in peoples homes. Ms. Fox indicated "yes", you can take your land line phone
that is wireless to any room. Everytlling will be wireless in the 20t1i century, phones, fax's,
everything. Tlie board has questioned the development of all these wireless cari-iers, such as
4
