forward to present their proposal. Mr. Dan Geller reviewed that they have been in North
Olmsted since 1971, and in 1989 an addition was added. Presently they are requesting to add
a front and attach what was Marty's Furniture store. Mr. Yager indicated that Marty's
Furruture store is just west of the existing Fish Furruture store. Presently there is a colonial
look to Fish's Furniture store and a mid 70's appearance which needs to be renovated on
Marty's store. There is about a 4-foot gap between the two buildings. The goal is to take the
two buildings and combine them with one look. The parking is on the sides and to the rear.
They would like to bring the facade treatment out so that it presents itself to I,orain Road.
The parking will remain on the sides and in the rear Marty's presently has a lot of scrub brush.
There is currently a board on board fence to the north that will be expanded on. The majority
of the renovation is the front facade. The owners are trying to mold the elegant design that
they put into their Furniture into their new facade. The goal is to use parts of the existing
building that has past history and adding a slight tip towards a contemporary style molding the
two styles together. The present Fish Furniture is a cedar siding with a sloped roof. The
cedar siding will be removed and replaced with a standing seam, pre-aged copper roof in its
place. There is presently an aged copper cap on the entrance of the existing building, which
will be mirrucked on either side of the front facade. There is a lot of glass in the front as retail
needs to be seen. 'Phere will be a second level display that will be visible from Lorain Road.
The signage will, be a Plexiglas face sign that will standout in the front and follow the curve.
There is a big soft arc that starts at the east corner and works its way around the building to
include Marty's Furniture. Presently the side of Marty's is a painted white block. The
masonry will not be continued. down the side but, it will be painted to give the look of
masonry material down the side. The base is a stone and split-face block material that will be
a trendstone split-faced masonry unit called butterfield. The brick is an endicott clay brick
that is a medium ironspot #46 which shows as a red tone on the model. Above the brick there
will be a dryvit system with a sandpebbYe finish #456 oyster shell color. There will be pre-
aged copper accent pieces at the top of the dryvit sections that will tie the cariopies and facade
together. There will be standard glass block used as a capping piece to separate the top and
bottom of the facade. Mr. Yager remarked that the owners were hoping their proposal would
be approved and thought it would be an added improvement to the community. Mrs.
O'IZourke questioned if there would be lighting under the canopies. Mr. Yager indicated that
there would be a light fixture at each of the columns. The lights will have an aged copper
look to them so they are consistent with the other materials on the building. There will be one
security light in the back as there is presently no lighting. Mrs. O'Rourke questioned if the
two-story addition would be accessible from the inside of the store. Mr. Yager indicated that
the elevated floor would be a showroom only. The height is to allow exposure to Lorain
Road and to hide a roof top unit that will be added. Mr. Hreha questioned what type of
existing lighting was on the site. Mr. Yager indicated that there were existing pole lights in
place, which read zero at the property line. Mr. Tallon asked if the rear light would be a
down light. Mr. Yager commented that it would be a door light, which would be shielded and
used for security only. Mr. Dunn questioned if the fence would be moved. Mr. Geller
indicated that it would be ran the entire length of the property about 225 feet. 1VIr. Dunn
questioned if there would be any pole lighting added. Mr. Yager commented that there would
be no pole lights added. Mr. Dunn asked that when maintenance is done on the fence could
the owners please let the neighbors know so they could cut the grass after the polyurethane is
sprayed on. Mrs. O'Rourke asked about the delivery docks. Mr. Yager indicated that the
3
