The garage on the board's plans should be moved to the <br />west of the back paving area. Mrs. O'Rourke questioned if that eliminated all the variances that <br />would be required. 1V1i-. Conway indicated that there would be no variances required, only a <br />special permit to add to a non-conforming structure would be needed. Mr. Brennan suggested <br />that to eliminate the meeting being dragged out any further than what do it is going to be, the <br />special permit should be addressed only. He suggested that the applicant's plans do not show <br />lighting plans, landscaping and other things of that nature that the board needs to review. Mr. <br />Conway indicated that the applicants were before the board only to address the special pernut, <br />they would like the board's recommendation to go before the Board of Zoning Appeals. He <br />didn't believe that the applicants wanted to spend additional monies until they were granted a <br />special permit. Mr. Koeth questioned what the purpose of the addition was for. Pastor Jenkins <br />suggested it would be for a fellowship hall. Mr. Koeth questioned what the fellowship hall <br />would be used for. Pastor Jenkins suggested it would be used for potluck meals and things of <br />that nature. Mr. Spalding asked if additional parking would be added. Pastor Jenkins indicated <br />"NO". Mr. Tallon questioned if there were any comments from the board or audience members. <br />No further comments were made. <br />R. Tallon motion to recommend that the Board of Zoning Appeals grant the special permit to <br />add to a non-conforming building to Columbia Road Baptist Church of 4116 Columbia Road. <br />The motion was seconded by K. O'Rourke and unanimously approved. IVlotion Passed. <br />R. Tallon indicated that the proposal would be tabled until the next meeting when the applicant <br />will submit a copy of the latest site plans, also lighting that will be included, fixture cuts, <br />building materials, colors and landscaping plans. <br />3) Developers Diversified (Babies "R" Us): 26520 Lorain Avenue: <br />Proposal consists of renovating the exterior building of the former Best Products building. <br />Chairman Tallon called all interested parties forward to present their proposal. Mr. Elbin came <br />forward to represent Babies "R" Us. He indicated that there would be some remodeling of the <br />exterior of the old Best Products building to accommodate Babies "R" Us. The entrance doors <br />will be in the same location that they presently are. There is wood siding on the top of the roof <br />that will be removed malcing it a full brick building. The entrance will be constructed out of <br />frame and an exterior insulation finish system. The storefronts will be pre colored aluminum <br />storefronts. The main color of the building will be a white buff color. Mr. Elbin showed the <br />board a print of the colors that would be used. Mr. Spalding questioned if there were pictures <br />of other Babies "R" Us stores. NIr. Elbin suggested that the Babies "R" Us representative <br />indicated that the front entrance was a proto type entrance. NIr. Tallon questioned if Mr. Elbin <br />would be constructing the entranceway or would they be using part of what is currently there. <br />Mr. Elbin suggested that the entrance would be new, and the remainder of the building would <br />remain the same. I3e showed pictures of what the building currently looks like. He indicated <br />that there was a front band made out of wood that will be removed. Mr. Tallon questioned <br />how much bigger the new storefront would be from what is presently on the site now. Mr. <br />Elbin suggested it would be twice as wide as the existing entrance.
