Chairman Gomersall called all interested parties forward, and reviewed the variances requested. Mr. <br />Kalina, from Adams signs came forward to present his proposal. He suggested that E. B. superstore, <br />which is a national chain, changed their corporate name a couple of months ago and the building sign has <br />already been changed to reflect their new name. There is an existing pole sign, which has the old name, and <br />the owners would like to just do a face replacement. There would be no change in the square footage or <br />size. Mr. Gomersall asked if there were any questions from the board members. No further comments <br />were made. <br />W. Kremzar motioned to approve West Marine of 24781 Lorain Road their request for variance <br />(1123.12). Which consists of a sign package and that the following variance be granted: <br />1) A variance to alter a non-conforming pole sign. <br />Which i,s in violation of Ord. 90-125 section, 1163.19. Note: This variance is granted only as to the <br />specific relief requested. The City is currently involved in a federal lawsuit and has agreed not to enforce <br />its prohibition against pole signs until the lawsuit is resolved. Should the lawsuit resolve in favor of the <br />City, your pole.sign will be unlawfully non-confornung under City law and will have to be removed unless <br />you obtain another variance at that time. The motion was seconded by J. Maloney and unanimously <br />approved. Variance Granted <br />13. Kronheims: 5198 Great Northern Shopping Center:_ <br />Request for variance (1123.12). The proposal consists of a sign package. <br />The following variances are requested: <br />1) A 119 square foot variance for sign face area for business unit, (Code permits only 280sq ft, applicant <br />shows 399sq ft), (1163.11 C). <br />2) A variance to insta116 additional wall signs, (Code pernuts only l, applicant shows 7), (1163.12 A). <br />3) A 49.7 square foot variance for (sign A) sign face area, (code pernuts 75sq ft, applicant shows 124.7sq <br />ft), (1163.12 A). <br />4) A 61.7 square foot variance for (sign E) sign face area, (code pernuts 75sq ft, applicant shows 136.7sq <br />ft), (1163.12 A). <br />Which is in violation of Ord. 90-125 sections, (1163.11 C) and (1163.12 A). <br />Chairman Gomersall called all interested parties forward, and reviewed the variances requested. Mr. Gomersall suggested that the proposed signage was similar to Marshall's signage. He asked <br />if there were any questions. No further comments were made. <br />T. Koberna motioned to approve Kronheims of 5198 Great Northern Shopping Center their request for <br />variance (1123.12). Which consists of a sign package and that the following variances be granted: <br />1) A 119 square foot variance for sign face area for business unit, (Code pernuts only 280sq ft, applicant <br />shows 399sq ft), (1163.11 C). <br />2) A variance to install 6 additional wall signs, (Code pernuts only 1, applicant shows 7), (1163.12 A). <br />3) A 49.7 square foot variance for (sign A) sign face area, (code permits 75sq ft, applicant shows 124.7sq <br />ft), (1163.12 A). <br />4) A 61.7 square foot variance for (sign E) sign face area, (code permits 75sq ft, applicant shows 136.7sq <br />ft), (1163.12 A). <br />Which is in violation of Ord. 90-125 sections, (1163.11 C) and (1163.12 A). The motion was seconded by <br />J. Maloney and unanimously approved. Variamces Granted <br />14. Edgar Wvrwas - 23889 Oak Lane: <br />Request for variance (1123.12).
