Mr. Yager suggested making the canopy to the coping line or at the upper line so it's not in
between stepping out. Mr. Zergott indicated the material list needs to be submitted. Mr.
Saylor replied "ok." Mr. Rymarczyk questioned Mr. Yager if the comments were considered '
to be a major change. Mr. Yager replied "no. " He considered this a major modification since '
the bank already has a canopy, which will only be extended and columns installed. The
applicant was referred to follow through to Board of Zoning and Development. The motion
was seconded by T. Liggett and unanimously approved. Motion Carried.
2. Soccer Sportsplex: 31515 Lorain Rd.
Proposal consists of an addition added to the existing building.
Chairman Zergott called all interested parties forward to review the proposal. Mr. & Mrs.
Schmidt came forward to review the request. Mr. Schmidt indicated that the proposed addition
was originally proposed three years ago. They have taken the liberty to slide the building a little
bit to, accomplish a few things, one to not make a long straight wall, to give accent, to add a
different roof pitch, and to give the building more flexibility for change of use at a later date.
Mr. Yager questioned if there were elevations available. Mr. Schmidt gave Mr. Yager a copy
of the elevations. Mr. Yager questioned if there were any comments were from Planning
Commission on materials. Ms. Schulz indicated the siding was questioned. She then
questioned if Mr. Schmidt was proposing to put siding on the building. Mr. Schmidt indicated
the same material would be going on the exterior of the building. The back will look the same
as does the existing buildirig and the sides would have masonry work on other sides of the
building. Mr. Yager questioned if the existing building has the metal banding around the
building. NIr. Schmidt replied "yes." Mr. Yager questioned if there is metal banding around the
existing bldg. Mr. Schmidt indicated that on the rear of the building there is metal banding. Mr.
Yager questioned what Planning Commission commented on since the addition is much closer
to the highway. Mr. Liggett indicated it was probably allowed since the proposal was an
addition instead of an expansion. 1VIr. Yager indicated that Soccer Sportsplex is out of building
room. He then questioned if this potential site was a candidate for masonry up the entire side
as you drive along I-480. Mr. Yager questioned Mr. Rymarczyk how someone would handle
this in the Industrial Park on this elevation. Mr. Rymarczyk indicated that the decision was
up to the Board. Ms. Schulz questioned if Mr. Schmidt had brought any samples of any of the
fuushes. Mr. Schmidt replied "yes." Mr. Yager questioned if the color of the metal would be
the light color instead of the blue around the sides. Ms. Schmidt indicated "yes." Mr. Schmidt
indicated the blue is only on the front of the building. He indicated that the same contractor
who fuushed the existing building has been contacted to finish the proposed addition. Mr.
Liggett indicated that the entire backside of the building should have the masonry, as well. He
indicated that Mr: Schmidt would not be expanding any closer to the highway, so now the
building is in full vision of everybody. He indicated it should be finished off similar to the
existing building. Ms. Schulz agreed and indicated that there does not seem to be any buffer
between the building and the parking. Mr. Schmidt indicated that in the shadow of the plans
there would 10-feet or so of property and a sidewalk. Mr. Yager questioned if the masonry
should go up any higher because it is coming that much closer to the highway. Ms. Schulz
questioned how far the masonry goes up presently. Mr. Liggett indicated 7 feet 4 inches. Mr.
Yager indicated that 7 feet 4 inches is typical since that is where the first purlin is located, so
actually you would save money with the masonry. Mrs. Schmidt indicated that the pricing for
masonry is expensive. Mr. Yager indicated that every building product is a fortune; metal is a
foriune. Mrs. Schmidt indicated that the prices had been compared and found a huge
difference between masonry and metal. Mr. Yager questioned the price of running masonry
how high. Mr. Schmidt indicated to the 7 feet 4 inches. Mr. Yager indicated that every
4
