residents. Mr. Suhayda remarked that they were working with a lighting expert to make sure
that the correct lighting is used. The two lots that need to be rezoned will be used for storage
not displays and no display lights will be used past the curb cut on Dewey Road. Mr. Corell
suggested that the homeowners are concerned about the lighting that will be used as some of
the residents can read the newspaper from the lights that emanate now into their yards. Mrs.
VanAuken suggested that esthetically the building would look better without the bright green
roof. She believed that if the color of the roof were more of a sand color it would be less
obtrusive then the bright green. Mrs. O'Rourke questioned if they had a sign package yet.
Mr. Suhayda indicated that they had not put a sign package together but a small ground sign
would be used at the corner of Lorain and Dewey. There will be no signs on the building.
Mr. Corell questioned the landscaping. Mr. Suhayda indicated that a landscape architect
would be doing the landscaping. Mr. Barker questioned if Mr. Halleen ever tried to sell the
two parcels he wants rezoned as residential lots for homes to be built on them. Mr. Halleen
remarked that as long as he lives, there would be homes on the lots. What his children do
with the land once he is gone he can not say. Mr. Barker inquired if anyone had ever
approached Mr. Halleen to buy the parcels to build homes. Mr. Halleen answered "no".
Mrs. VanAuken questioned if the top homes on the West Side of Dewey were in the
commercial zoning. Mr. Halleen suggested that he thought the lots from Lorain Road back
500 feet, are commercially zoned. Mr. Lang indicated that in chapter 165.01 subsection A it
says "Designate, preserve, protect, enhance and perpetuate those structures and districts
which reflect outstanding elements of the City's cultural, artistic, social, economic, political,
architectural, historic or other heritage". If in fact you are in the district we have had your
hearing and the board will provide you with appropriateness, if not in the district we will
work very closely with you as you go through the boards. He indicated that they would have
an answer within 60 days. The board will find out if you are in the historical distriet. Mr.
Suhayda questioned if they could apply for the Planning Commission and other boards. Mr.
Lang suggested going through the motion of applying for the other boards and commissions.
No further comments were made. VI. OLD BUSINESS:

1. Steve and Mary Wolf• 27132 Butternut FZidge Rd.
Proposal consists of a new vinyl siding on existing home.
Mr. Lang asked the board members to review page 3 of the April minutes as they had talked
to Mr. & Mrs. Wolf briefly about the siding. He reviewed that the siding is in the process of
being put on the house presently. It puts the board in an awkward position as'the building
department issued the permit without Landmarks approval. Mr. Wolf indicated that he spoke
with the commission last month about the siding and he did what they asked and the
contractor applied for the permit and the building department let them have the permit. Mrs.
O'1Zourke questioned if the Landmarks board had approved the siding at the last months
meeting. Mr. Wolf indicated that Landmarks had not approved the type of siding that they
were using. The board suggested using 5-inch siding and we are using 4-inch siding. The
colors that will be used with the siding are white trim and red shutters. Mr. Lang inquired as
to what the name of the siding was. Mr. Wolf indicated that it was American Heritage Clay.
Mr. Wolf indicated that they are on a tight schedule as their daughter is graduating next
month. Mr. Corell suggested that the building department granting the permit when they
should not have is an administrative problem not Mr. Wolf. He has been by the Wolf's home
and believes that the house looks better then what it did. Mrs. VanAuken questioned if the
