.,
to Eric Gonzales, the owner, who came forward to review the request. Mr. Gonzales indicated that he
had no room to put the boat on the side of the house and there is no access to get the boat into the back
yard. He showed the board members pictures to prove his hardship. Mr. Maloney questioned if the boat
would be there all year round. Mr. Gonzales replied no. He stores it at Vermillion and he would just
bring it to his house to work on it or wash it in the spring. Mr. Maloney questioned how many days out
of the year he would have his boat there. Mr. Gonzales repIied that he would only wash it once in the
spring and prepare it for the summer. Mr. Kremzar questioned if those were his plans and that was what
he was going to do. Mr. Gonzales indicated that he has to bring it back for motor work. Mr. Kreinzar
questioned how long that would take. Mr. Gonzales replied probably about a week. Mr. Maloney
questioned if he talked to his neighbors about the boat being out there. Mr. Gonzales indicated that no
one had an objection that he knew of. Mr. Koberna questioned how this kind of thing is handled in the
Building 17ept. Mr. Conway suggested that the only way they go out is if there is a complaint. Mr.
Koberna indicated that the board is trying to give him a little break, but he is going to have to get it out of
there. Mr. Gonzales replied that it will be out of there. He has to have it out of the water November 15`
and it will be winter stored in Vermillion. Mr. Kremzar questioned when he would bring it to the
property to work on the engine. Mr. Gonzales replied that he planned on it this weekend. Mr. Kelly
questioned if he needed approximately one week. Mr. Gonzales replied correct, but two weeks would be
better, just in case. Mr. Kelly indicated they should limit it from the 0' to the 18"' of this month. Mr.
Maloney called for a motion.
T. Kelly motioned to grant Eric Gonzales of 5795 Wellesley Ave. his request for variance (1123.12).
Which consists of storing a recreational vehicle (boat) in the front driveway from August 4 through
August 18, 2001 and that the following variance is granted:
1) A variance for storing a boat in the front driveway of the house (code permits a period of time which
does not exceed seventy-two hours within a consecutive twenty-one day period, applicant shows
indefinite period), section (1135.02 H-3).
Which is in violation of Ord. 90-125 section, 1135.02 H-3. The motion was seconded by J. Konold and
unanimously approved. Granted 8/2/01.
4. Svlvia Lachnit; 3932 Eleanor Dr.
Request for variance (1123.12). 'I'he proposal consists of adding a 1-bay garage addition to existing
attached garaae. The following variance is requested:
1) A special permit to add to a nonconforming building (1165.02).
2) A 11.5 ft. variance for adding to existing to extend into front yard required setback (code requires 50
ft., applicant shows 38.5 ft.), section (1135.06 A).
Note: Previously heard by Board of Zoning Appeals on 5/3l01. Variance granted for rear yard setback
(33') and special permit approved.
Which is in violation of Ord. 90-125 section, 1165.02 and 1135:06 A.
Chairman Maloney called all interested parties forward to review the request. The oath was administered
to Sylvia Lachnit, the owner, and Tim Neufer, the architect, who came forward to review the request.
Ms. Lachnit indicated that her parents were going to be moving in with her and they each have a car. The
extra garage bay would help accoirunodate her situation. Mr. Kremzar questioned why there was work
being done on the house already. Ms. Lachnit indicated that they are building an addition in the rear of
the house. Mr. Koberna commented that it seemed like they went through a lot of work to make it nice
and match the existing house. Mr. Maloney indicated that he had a problem with this sticking out farther
than the rest of the surrounding properties. Mr. Neufer indicated that it is also on the curb, so if it was
lined up with the road it would be more noticeable. Mr. Maloney called for a inotion.
3
