--•c?
ptaced. Mr. Jenkins showed him. Mr. Dudek indicated that it would be essentially in the same spot then.
Mr. Morgan replied it would be a little bit further back toward the auto lots. Mr. Jenkins thanked the
board for their time.
12. Chandelier Shaek; 29919-29929 I,orain Rd.
Request for variance (1123.12). The proposal consists of a sign.
The following variance is requested:
1) A 4 ft. variance for front setback (code requires 5 ft., applicant shows 1 ft.), section (1163.26).
Which is in violation of Ord. 90-125 section, (1163.26).
Chairman Maloney called all interested parties forward to review the proposal. The oath was
administered to Paul Phalgoo, with Signs for Less, and Doug Yates, with Chandelier Shack, who came
forward to review the proposal. Mr. 1Vlaloney questioned if they wanted to explain to the board what
they are doing. Mr. Phalgoo indicated that they have an existing sign right now, which is electric and
internally illuminated. The variance they are going for is because of the sign is two feet from the
sidewalk. They would defuutely like to keep it in the same location. Mr. Kremzar questioned if the sign
that is there now is the new sign. Mr. Phalgoo replied yes. They are going to re-enforce the foundation
and they would just like to keep it where it is. Mr. Maloney questioned if the one sign would serve both
buildings and there would be no additional signs. Mr. Phalgoo replied correct, there is one ground sign
for both buildings. Nir. Maloney questioned if the board had any further comments or questions. Mr.
Koberna indicated that he thought it meets the intent and it is only 5 ft. high. Mr. Maloney called for a
motion.
J. Konold motioned to grant Chandelier Shack of 29919-29929 Lorain Rd. their request for variance
(1123.12). Which consists of a sign and the following variance be granted:
1) A 4 ft. variance for front setback (code requires 5 ft., applicant shows 1 ft.), section (1163.26).
Which is in violation of Ord. 90-125 section, (1163.26). The motion was seconded by W. Kremzar and
unanimously approved. Variance Granted 6/7/01.
13. I2ini 12ego Snarkleq 23100 Lorain Itd.
Request for variance (1123.12). The proposal consists of a sign package.
The following variances are requested:
1) A 2 ft. variance for height of sign (wall) (code permits 4 ft., applicant shows 6 ft.), section (1163.2
C).
2) A 20 sq. ft. variance for wall sign face area (code permits 100 sq. ft., applicant shows 120 sq. ft.),
section (1163.27 C).
Which is in violation of Ord. 90-125 section, 1163.2-C, and 1163.27-C.
Chairman Maloney called all interested parties forward to review the request. The oath was ad2rurustered
to Mark Bizjak, with Brilliant Electric Sign Co., and a resident John Janoch of 34333 W. 2315` St., who
came forward to review the proposal. Mr. Maloney questioned if Mr. Bizjak wanted to explain to the
board what they were doing changing signs. Mr. Bizjak indicated that they are changing the existing
Giant Eagle sign, which is approximately 200 sq. ft. to the new Rini Rego Sparkle, which will be 136 sq.
ft. They are requesting height variances because it went from 4 to 6 ft. and the cap on the size went from
100 sq. ft. to 136 sq. ft. The reason for the variance is due to the setback, the size of the building, size of
the development and Rini Rego thinks it's appropriate to have a sign this size. Mr. Janoch indicated that
he has no problem with the Sparkle sign he just wanted to know who to contact because of the problems
at G-iant Eagle that are going on now. The refuse is not picked up daily and it really smells terribly, and
trucks are pulling in at night between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. He just wanted information about who to
10
