T. Kelly motioned to grant Wells Fargo Home 1Vlortgage of 4722 Great Northern Blvd their request
for variance (1123.12). Which consists of a wall sign and that the following variance be granted:
1. A 15.25 square foot variance for a wall sign (code permits 39.5 sq. ft., applicant shows 54.75 sq.
ft). Which is in violation of Ord. 90-125 section (1163.24 0). The motion was seconded by J.
Konold and unanimously approved. Variance Granted.
9. Elhurst Lorain Plaza (Uhlin): 29460 Lorain Rd.
Request for variance (1123.12). The proposal consists of parking spaces.
The Following variances ar.e requested:
1. A 14 foot variance for parking space too close to right of way (code requires 20 ft. applicant
shows 6 ft.) section, (1139.08 (a)).
2. A 12 foot variance for driveway width (code requires 18 ft., applicant shows 6 ft.) section,
(1161.10 (b)). .
3. A variance for parallel parking-3 spaces (code does not permit, applicant shows parallel parking)
section, (1161.04 (b)).
Which is in violation of Ord. 90-125 section, (1161.04 (b)), (1161.10 (b)) and (1139.08 (a)).
Chairman Maloney called all interested parties forward to review their request. Mr. LJhlin, the owner
came forward to be sworn in and address the request. Mr. Uhlin questioned if the board members
received a copy of the letter from the fire department. Mr. Maloney answered "yes". Mr. Uhlin
reviewed the letter that stated the fire department has no objections to the request. In the summer
months i.e. May, June, July and August he needs 10 parking spaces for the employees behind the
building. If the variances are not granted, there will not be enough parking spaces for each of the
shops. There are currently 18 parking spaces in the front of the shops. In the summer months there
can be up to 6 people in the store at a time and if employees have to park in the front, the pool shop
would be using 9 of the 18 spaces available. He would like to be granted the three parking spaces
for employees. Mr. Kremzar questioned if the additional parking spaces could be used for customer
parkina. Mr. Uhlin believed that the parking spaces would be better served if they were used for
employees, as there would be less chance for accidents.
J.
