,i <br />will be given a copy. At this point in the meeting, the board members and audience members <br />watched a power point presentation of the proposed building. Mr. Koeth questioned if the rooms <br />would be locked. Mr. Einling indicated that the drivers would only have keys as the rooms are <br />only for drivers. The only signs on the building will be the RTA Iogo. The landscaping on the <br />site will be irrigated. There will be a number of shade trees and seasonal blooms, there will <br />always be color on the site. They have tried to protect the residents as much as possible. Mrs. <br />O'Rourke questioned when the project would start. Mr. Shaffer suggested that they would like to <br />get the project started May of 2002. Mrs. O'Rourke inquired if the resident side of the •walls <br />would look the same as the front. Mr. Emling commented that the residents would have a light <br />brown color on their side with landscaping. Mrs. O'Rourke questioned what type of glass would <br />be used on the building. Mr. Emling indicated that all the glass on the building is tempered <br />glass. Mr. Allan suggested he read the traffic report, which showed peak hours to be 7:00 a.m. to <br />9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and questioned the hours of operations. 1VIr. Shaffer <br />indicated that North Olmsted Municipal Bus Line (NOMBL) would be running the park & ride. <br />He thinks it would open at 6:30 a.m. and close 9:30 or 10:30 p.m. during peak hours there would <br />be buses every 15 minutes then during off hours 1 an hour. Mr. Allan questioned if there would <br />be someone on duty or sale tickets in what looks like a both, Mr. Shaffer indicated that the site <br />would not be manned "nor" was there a booth the room is for drivers only. Mr. Allan questioned <br />ivhat they would have for security. Mr. Shaffer commented that transit police would visit the site <br />throughout the hours of operations. However, they do not have set times for security reasons. <br />Ms. Feke indicated that RTA has their own police department wluch is the second biggest in the <br />County. Mr. Hreha questioned what was inside the shelters for passengers. Mr. ShafFer <br />indicated that there are benches outside/inside and water facets inside the shelter. T'here are <br />vending inachines outside the shelter. Mr. Hreha questioned if the building was heated. Mr. <br />Spalding questioned if there would be a way to keep people from parking in the lot after hours. <br />Mr. Shaffer suggested that if there were cars on the site after hours the police would investigate. <br />Mr. Hreha voiced that he thought having vending machines on the site would attract unwanted <br />visitors at night after hours. Mr. Spalding questioned if the property Iights are turned off after <br />hours or would they stay on all night. Mr. Shaffer suggested that that issue would need to be <br />addressed with the city. Fast practice has been to have a few lights on the lot left on for safety <br />reasons. Mr. Lasko felt that the driver's room may invite unwanted guess during the off hours. <br />He questioned the nuinber of doors to the room. Mr. Emling explained that the two doors were <br />needed so the drivers could use the cleaning supplies without joing outdoors. Mr. Lasko <br />questioned the type of doors that would be used on the driver's area. Mr. Emling indicated that <br />the doors on the driver's area are steel doors the only glass will be in the windows of the room <br />for natural lighting. There was a brief discussion about raising the windows in the drivers room <br />but the windows at eye level would allow would be thief's to see there is nothing inside worth <br />stealing. Mr. Spalding questioned if the configuration was the same on this site as other park & <br />ride sites. Mi-. Shaffer suggested that they had not had brake-ins at any site. The key to open the <br />doors is not a key. They are a swipe card and each time it is used the police department will <br />know who is opening the door and at what time the door is opened. Mr. Lasko questioned if <br />there was any type of alarm on the building. Mr. Shaffer suggested there is an alarm that will <br />notify their police. Mr. Hreha questioned if the passenger area would be open 24 hours a day. <br />Mr. Shaffer indicated that once the buses are through running for the day the doors of the waiting <br />room are locked. Mr. Hreha recommended not putting any vending machines on the site. He <br />suggested that those sites that have vending machines should have studies made of vandalism <br />increasing due to the machines being added. Mr. Allan commented that he had a concern <br />regarding the lack of security on the site. Mr. Shaffer suggested that he would have their police <br />4
