<br />Chairman Maloney called all interested parties forward to review the request. Mr. Bach <br />with Site Enhancement Services came forward to be sworn in and review the request. Mr. <br />Bach noted that he received a new variance notice which shows that only 8 variances are <br />required not 9 as first written, as sign D is an inside sign. The applicant then reviewed that <br />the building is quite large and the allowable square footage would be 100 square feet which <br />would be lost on this size building. The signs have been designed to fit the size of the <br />building. Mr. Rymarczyk asked were the smaller sign would be located and why it was <br />smaller than the others. The applicant reviewed that the size of the Brookpark Road sign <br />was designed to fit within the architectural arch. Brief discussion ensued regarding having <br />all three signs 6' x 37' but the applicant felt the owners thought the signs were properly <br />sized for the building. The board asked why someone from Galyan's was not present and it <br />was disclosed that currently Galyan's was going through a corporate change. <br />J. Maloney moved to grant Galyan's of 200 Great Northern Mall their request for <br />variance (1123.12), which consists of a sign package and that the following variances <br />are granted as corrected: <br />1. A 562 square foot variance for total signage on a building unit, (code permits 236 <br />sq. ft., applicant shows 798 sq. ft), section (1163.24 (C)). <br />2. A variance for erecting 3 wall signs on a building unit, (code permits 1, applicant <br />shows 3), section (1163.27 (A)). <br />3. A 122 square foot variance for a wall sign larger than code permits (sign A), (code <br />permits 100 sq. ft., applicant shows 222 sq. ft.), section (1163.27 (C)). <br />4. A 188 square foot variance for a wall sign larger than code permits (sign B), (code <br />permits 100 sq. ft., applicant shows 288 sq. ft.), section (1163.27 (C)). <br />5. A 188 square foot variance for a wall sign larger than code permits (sign C), (code <br />permits 100 sq. ft., applicant shows 288 sq. ft.), section (1163.27 (C)). <br />6. A 2 foot variance for a wall sign higher than code permits (sign A), (code permits <br />41, applicant shows 6'), section (1163.27 (C)). <br />6. A 2 foot variance for a wall sign higher than code permits (sign B), (code permits <br />4', applicant shows 6'), section (1163.27 (C)). <br />7. A 2 foot variance for a wall sign higher than code permits (sign C), (code permits <br />4', applicant shows 6'), section (1163.27 (C)). <br />Which is in violation of Ord. 90-125 sections (1163.24 (C)), (1163.27 (A) &(C)). Sears Roebuck/Avis; 500 Great Northern Blvd.: (WRD 4) <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Proposal consists of new signs for Avis. <br />The following variances are requested: <br />1. A variance for (2) wall signs on a building unit, (see note: #1), (code permits 0, <br />applicant shows 2), section (1163.27 (A)). <br />2. A variance for total wall sign on a building unit, (see not #2), (code permits 1, applicant <br />shows 7), section (1163.27 (A)). <br />3. A varianee for a canopy sign on a building unit, (see note #1), (code permits 0, <br />applicant shows 1), section (1163.28 (C)). <br />Which is in violation of Ord. 90-125 sections (1163.27 (A)) and (1163.28 (C)). <br />Note: #1. Avis has no frontage available therefore, per code, no signs are permitted on the <br />building (including canopy signs). #2. Total signs include 1 proposed Avis wall sign and 6 existing signs by Sears. <br />12
