(2)

3.Improvements Underway
a) Shower mats and benches – Still wish to see these completed; Mrs. Powell noted the
players are utilizing showers due to improvements to shower stalls
b) Divider curtain bottom replacements – Completed (Mrs. Powell pleased to notice this as of
11/12); self-contains balls within the courts of play

4.Tennis Player Contributions – Decorations, lotion, Kleenex, shower privacy curtains, window
cleaning (not discussed in meeting, but listed on Agenda)

5.Men’s Locker Room Shower Stalls – Mrs. Powell stated, on behalf of the male tennis players,
that they have expressed an interest in shower stalls as well, after hearing of the improvements
made to the ladies’ locker room
*Mr. Morgan suggested Mrs. Powell have the men stop in or make a call regarding this.

6.Written Schedule for On-going Maintenance – Reason for this is to avoid “nagging” of the
Tennis Community and for an understanding of needs being met by maintenance staff
*Mrs. Sorge stated that she wished to know why the water coolers were not being maintained
and replaced. Mr. Morgan responded. He said the pros are responsible for filling the water
coolers, not maintenance staff.

7.Prompt Clean Up of Courts after Parties – Last party took 2-3 days before cleaning (example:
Last time in October, popcorn, hard candy, cups and gum left behind after a late night football
party)
*Mr. Morgan will take a look at efficiency of clean-up of courts after late night parties and
scheduling maintenance staff accordingly for clean-up.

8.Support Request for $15,000 for Master Plan at Recreation Center – Mr. Morgan will be
asking Council to support architectural plan, which will include new tennis courts

9.Big thank you to Todd Morgan and Maintenance Staff for many improvements. (last item on
Agenda and mentioned by Mrs. Powell)

*Mrs. Marella mentioned that the ladies would like to request painting the locker room pink/light
mauve or pale yellow and adding a matching skirt for the vanity. (Noted by Mr. Morgan that
Mrs. Powell donated shower curtains.) Mr. Limpert suggested the Recreation Center offering
court time for fund-raising to support small desires and wants of Tennis Community. Mrs. Powell
believed this a great suggestion.
*Mrs. Powell suggested to keep the windows throughout the building clean at all times. Mr.
Morgan stated this is difficult with the amount of traffic we have in the building at any given time.
He will get a cleaning schedule from Mr. Stein of what his staff does versus the contracted
cleaning company. Also, he will work on obtaining a schedule of major tasks done on a regular
basis.
*Mrs. Marella mentioned two clay courts available for sale at View Point for around $250k. Is
this something the Recreation Center should consider? Mr. Jenkins stated this may not be
reasonable due to additional maintenance needed, staffing for admissions, etc. and for $250k, why
would we buy two clay courts when we own property along Canterbury on which we could build
five or six courts. Mr. Morgan noted to keep in mind two new courts would be built this spring at
North Olmsted Park, along with basketball courts, shuffleboard, and horseshoe pits.

The Commission thanked Mrs. Powell and Mrs. Marella for sharing their concerns and requests.

Page 2
