The North Olmsted Soccer Organization was founded over 25 years ago and utilizes Barton <br />Bradley Park with its seven athletic fields to operate a comprehensive city wide soccer program. <br />The Club has over 900 members and has programs for all skill levels and age groups. Fees went <br />up $5.00 this past season for the first time in seven years. <br /> <br />? <br /> <br />In House Soccer Program 400 + players $30 Individual fee <br />? <br /> <br />Travel Soccer Program 300 + Players $75 Individual fee <br />? <br /> <br />Excaliber (Elite) Soccer Program 100 + Players Fee Varies <br /> <br />NOSO is operated by an administrative Board of Directors comprised of volunteer parents. The <br />Club lines the fields, installs nets, provides goal frames, re-seeds and fertilizes the athletic fields at <br />Barton Bradley Park. The group of NOSO officials are all dedicated hard working civic minded <br />individuals who donate their time to serve the children of North Olmsted <br /> <br />This year marks the 25th Anniversary of the NOSO Cup Soccer Tournament. Over 95 teams and <br />2000 soccer enthusiasts will come to North Olmsted for this prestigious tournament. Teams <br />come from all over including an entry form El Paso, Texas which has several Mexican players <br />bringing an International flavor to the Tournament. This is the big fundraiser for NOSO and <br />proceeds from the Tournament help offset annual operating expenses of the club. <br /> <br />Mr. Mekes outlined N.O.S.O.'s future needs: <br /> <br />1)More parking at Barton Bradley Park <br />? <br /> <br />Relocating the leaf dump to accommodate space <br />? <br /> <br />An additional 200 spaces are needed <br /> <br />2)Establish new soccer fields in North Olmsted. <br />? <br /> <br />Barton Bradley fields are over used and turf maintenance is becoming an issue. <br />? <br /> <br />Re-seeding goal-mouth areas is a major problem. <br />? <br /> <br />Two soccer fields were lost due the Shopping Mall expansion. <br />? <br /> <br />Resting fields 6-12 months to allow grass to take root is more difficult than in the past. <br />? <br /> <br />The new trends in youth soccer is to create teams with smaller numbers to promote <br />skill development. While the program has been well received, it requires more field <br />space than traditional 11 man soccer games. <br /> <br /> <br />Ball Diamond Proposal <br />N.O.S.A. Representative <br />Christian Kollar <br />North Olmsted High School Representative <br />Tim Murphy and Mike Smith not present. They will make a formal presentation at next months <br />Recreation Commission Meeting. <br /> <br />A proposal to exchange two ball diamonds at North Olmsted Park is being proposed by <br />representatives from the High School Varsity Baseball Team.
